Speaking as someone who's worked with Capcom, stays in touch with its people, and has, shall we say, professional room to maneuver, I'll just say that contrary to what the technical director in the IGN article asserts, I know for a *fact* many Capcom employees are VEHEMENTLY against this direction.
Capcom is another studio embracing gen-ai sadly. Popular titles include: Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Okami, Street Fighter, Ace Attorney, Devil May Cry, and Mega Man. -y

The first episodes of Starfleet Academy are OK, certainly better than Encounter at Farpoint. And I think you could have a good ST series with this premise. Problem is they won't get a chance- ten episodes or less per season just doesn't give you the time to make proper Trek.
