What’s important to consider, while watching the Eagles, is that life is nothing but a slow march toward eternal darkness.

There are no Republicans with a hint of a national profile who can do what Trump has done to motivate the GOP base over the past decade. They don't have his backstory or his charisma, such as it is. They've spent a decade spelunking in diners to figure out the special sauce, but it's not replicable

As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

After everything, Senate Democrats still haven’t figured out that surrendering to Trump Republicans will end badly? Unbelievable.

The was a Republican shutdown because the GOP wouldn't negotiate — and Dems made that about their unwillingness to negotiate on extending the ACA subsidies.

If Dems vote for this, the answer to the "why did you do it for the past 40 days?" question becomes very difficult to answer.

So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

The whole GOP shutdown strategy is hoping that sheer force of propaganda can convince the public that things getting worse does not reflect badly on the people in charge of the government, and that hurting America more will get Democrats to acquiesce to the Trump admin hurting America in other ways.

Democratic pundits make the Philly sports fan mistake of thinking that anything you do is going to make your opponent define you any differently than they do. We can do 1,000 charitable things, have 1,000 parades go off without a hitch, and it's still snowballs at Santa.

really we should get rid of the idea that a band’s entire discography should be on streaming services. maybe the singles? “if you like this, here’s a link to the album, which will cost you £10”

you know, like how you’d hear something on the radio and think “i liked that, i’ll buy it”

Find a No Kings protest Saturday and go!

Don't worry that you've never been to a protest before. Don't worry about being dressed wrong or looking out of place. Don't worry that you don't agree about everything -- or even about much -- with lots of people at the protest.
