I liked blockchain hype. CEOs had no clue what a blockchain was, so when they said to add one, the engineers just did what they had always done. With AI they've all dicked around with ChatGPT for an hour and won't be happy until some crappy LLM has been shoved into something that doesn't need it.

I think that most archaeology and history students are aware of "The Motel of Mysteries", a 1979 satirical book made by David Macaulay, set in the far future, in which an amateur archaeologist finds a preserved american motel room, but without any other context believes it to be a burial chamber.
