how ironic that the main effect of president's day is to close the banks so my already delayed check won't deposit until tomorrow thus keeping me from getting food or paying my bills on time bc of poverty and government/corporate incompetence and greed. thematically appropriate.

it pays to be the opposition party. if they "win," they have to make excuses for why the status quo - of which they are big beneficiaries - does not change. if they're the "underdogs," they get to act like they're fighting without really doing much while still getting positions of power. & money.
american liberals dont want to win elections. they lose, call everyone who didnt vote for Dems stupid, call half the people who DID stupid, change nothing, run it back. it's important that such "stupid people" NOT vote for Dems, so that voting for Dems can continue to be an Educated, Elite position
