this has been obvious since the introduction of AI Overviews, and this is the result

Google wants to gobble up all the hard work that writers/journalists put in, rephrase it a tiny bit, and replace it

AI Overviews are, quite literally, industrial-scale plagiarism

ICE is literally murdering people with their bare hands.
🚨WHOA. The El Paso Medical Examiner says it will rule the death of a 55-year-old Cuban man at ICE's "Camp East Montana" tent camp as a homicide.

He was allegedly choked to death by a guard during a "struggle" after he refused to enter a housing unit without his medications.

"Not out of fear, out of baked goods."

THIS IS THE WAY.
Oh yeah, Massachusetts is prepping. Apparently this bakery had anti-ice cookies and received death threats. They won't be open their usual hours tomorrow. Not out of fear, out of baked goods. They completely sold out and need to spend tomorrow restocking. fallriverreporter.com/massachusett...
Massachusetts bakery receiving praise, death threats, over ICE cookies
A Massachusetts bakery is receiving praise and trouble after a recent social media post received quite the response. On Sunday, The Sweet Boutique in East Longmeadow took to social media and you can s...

Best burger and fries, hands down, was at a Kansas City airport hotel's restaurant. I had an overnight stop before driving to a conference the next day, and I've never had one as good before or since. Not because I was hungry; because it was perfect.
Here’s a topic outside the news.

What’s the most unlikely place you’ve ever had the best particular food or drink you’ve ever had?

Like, not the best steak at the world’s top steakhouse. Something weirder.

Best burger I’ve ever had? Fresno airport.

Best cup of coffee? Crater Lake Lodge.

This is a profound evil.

There is no and cannot be any compromise with this. There can only be eradicating the evil acts and exiling the actors from public life forever. Preferably locked up for life.
ICE Agents enter Target with no warrant and violently tackle two American citizen employees, evidently because they didn't "look American" enough. (DHS refused to explain their rationale, so we have to guess.)

The injured Americans were later dumped in parking lots miles away in sub-zero weather.

Also, I've got to get this DONE:

Still need one last bit of help for the local family with the utilities issue. $78 paid by check directly to the town for the water bill.

DM or e-mail if you're able to cover it.

[NOTE: Do NOT send it to me. It needs to be paid to the town.]

Still need to raise $300 to get Jen through the next week-plus, all the travel, food, and the pup's meds?

PayPal is jen@thereallifedog.com
Venmo is @JenAndWhippets & last four of her phone, 7978

If you donate, let me know so we can track progress.

Truck needs *another* transmission.

Now, tonight's local urgent needs.

I am very, very ill at this point, and that's not going to change for a while, apparently.

Only two, and I have GOT to get these off my desk, because they involve tight deadlines, and also there's a huge line of folks behind them needing help.

And Valentine's Day will be here before you know it!

We've had two frankly terrible years. We have GOT to make this a better year, and that starts with *at least* one sale a week. So far, we're already 2 weeks behind, and we had a $650 cash expense yesterday.

Their name fits, too. This pair is "The Light That Holds the. Sky": wingssilverwork.com/the-light-th....

Nickel silver [not silver; nickel/copper/zinc alloy]; old Bisbee turquoise. Adapted from one of Wings's vintage works, butterfly conchas from one of his old belts:

Okay, tonight's inventory selection. Just one, and you've already seen it this week, but I'm too ill to do anything more, and also? It fits the feature.

Today's #TBT work is a pair of Skystone earrings [shown below].

Tonight's selection is not terribly dissimilar, but unique.

They were the hard, bright blue of the winter sky here, perfect as a center for radiating light . . . and for illuminating guidance.
January 16, 2026 at 4:46 AM
At center are a pair of matched round cabochons of Sleeping Beauty turquoise set into plain low-profile bezels. These were, IIRC, 8-mm or possibly 10-mm cabs, with moderate doming and a clear, matrix-free surface.

The final, eighth Eye is each whole earring: stylized, to be sure, but the whole far more diamond-shaped than any other geometric form.
January 16, 2026 at 4:45 AM
The fifth and sixth are more subtle, tiny elongated diamond drops just above and below the focal stones. And the seventh is at the very center, arrayed horizontally: the points extending to either side, the center beneath the focal, the edges bordered by triangle stamps with the same texture.
January 16, 2026 at 4:44 AM
The third and fourth diamonds are clearly stamped within those at either end. These are repoussé stampwork, form the reverse, and the centers rise in sharp relief on the outer surface. Wings has also used the same texturized line stamp to edge them.
January 16, 2026 at 4:44 AM
Those same textured lines form the quartets of rays below and above each of those ends — fitting imagery, since the Spirit's Eye signifies watchfulness, wisdom, guidance, and illumination.
January 16, 2026 at 4:44 AM
The first and second appear at the top and bottom of each drop, saw-cut into points at the edges, with the rest of the diamond formed by a stamped textured line.
January 16, 2026 at 4:43 AM
These are, perhaps more than anything, representative of the Spirit's Eye. That's usually symbolized by a simple diamond shape. n this instance, each earring contains seven separate such Eyes within a larger, collective eighth Eye of Spirit whole.
January 16, 2026 at 4:43 AM
It's a pair of earrings from one of Wings's very informal but longstanding series of earrings.

These are an old traditional design, given Wings's unique spin on the style. They're long, dangling drops saw-cut freehand of sterling silver, about 1.5" long by .75" wide, IIRC.

It's #ThrowbackThursday at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #TBT featured work that dates back to April of 2009, just shy of seventeen full years ago, and an old style that Wings made wholly his own: wingssilverwork.com/throwbackthu....
