Them: “You need to stop retreating into millennial nostalgia and listen to new music.”
Me (pressing play on MGMT):
I feel like a competent opposition party committed to winning longterm would be using this moment to make a big push in western states to make inroads where the culture leans anti-authoritarian and small-L libertarian.
But, what we have is the dems, so, tbd.

That last sentence is really something. These people have been dismantling the separation of church and state, saying our laws need to be molded to “Judeo-Christian values,” but when it comes to “the Greatest Commandment” to love thy neighbor, it’s “oopsie, God doesn’t tell government what to do!”
Speaking on behalf of a religion that actively sought to spread itself to every country in the world whether invited or not, Speaker Johnson would like to share with you the Biblical case for strong borders.

I've been saying "Hush, child, hush" in an exaggeratedly twangy voice as a bit for literally decades, and I'd completely forgotten I'd gotten it from a Catherine O'Hara line read in a deleted scene from Waiting for Guffman.

You do not, under any circumstances, gotta hand it to em etc., but compared to the conservatives on the court today, Scalia was generally pretty good on the 4th Amendment.
I disagreed with Scalia about a lot of things but I remember being struck in some case where he wrote, basically "the government argues that being required to follow the Constitution would make law enforcement's job harder. They are correct. That is the point."

They don't look so much "de-aged" as, like... laterally aged.
Somehow not as old as they actually are but also not really younger either.
Stretched perpendicular to "age" along a different dimension of the time-space continuum.

they should make a movie series about how it’s irresponsible to use technology to mess with the natural order of things for profit

Every day Mamdani comes out and is like "hey guys, I turned off the orphan-crushing machine. Literally just had to flip a switch. Took less than 5 minutes."

After decades of dem leadership pissing and moaning and fundraising about how complex an issue it is and how difficult the process is etc

Good news everybody! You know how you've seen multiple camera angles of the crimes these guys are committing? Well now there's gonna be another angle!
Breaking:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Homeland Security Secretary Noem says every DHS officer deployed to Minneapolis is now being issued a body-worn camera.

there are a lot of reasons to want schumer out. but even if this is not a major issue for you, claiming that your role as leader during a fascist putsch is to preserve a policy favored by the fascist and opposed by your party's voters is disqualifying. schumer cannot continue to lead the democrats
Video of his remarks where he says, verbatim, that one of his jobs as leader is to funnel more aid to Israel

75% of Democratic voters oppose sending Israel more military aid, as do 66% of independents and 60% of Americans overall according to recent polling

Does anyone know of a site (besides behind the Cook paywall) where you can see all of the 2024 House races in order of partisan margin?
Would love to be able to quickly be able to see "an [x]% increase in Dem margin would result in a [y] increase in Dem House seats."

For people who aren't familiar with Tarrant County, you know how Yellowstone is somehow like the biggest TV show of the past decade but you don't know a single person who has actually watched it?
That's because they all live in Fort Worth.

I was here for this and even though it was a candidate rally, the energy and emotion among the crowd was much more like at a protest.
Folks are angry.
5,000+ people showed up to rally against ICE with James Talarico, Gina Hinojosa, Joaquin Castro, and Greg Casar

I grew up in Tarrant County, and even helped run some state lege campaigns there after college.
It's true that it is very red for an urban county, but dems can and have won seats there before.
But... not this gerrymandered seat. Not that part of the county. And not by anything like this margin.

Dang, guys, it's almost like Netanyahu always wants Republicans to win American elections and there was no political upside for Dems or diplomatic upside for the US in breaking our own laws to financially reward his regime for its war crimes.
Who knew? Who could have foreseen?
Interesting admission by Biden administration official and Kamala Harris NSC advisor earlier today

This plus the "why should I have to put my trash in the trashcan when we have janitors to pick it up off the floor" as a teen are the only two points you need to extrapolate the entirety of Stephen Miller.
He thinks brown people should only exist in this country as an underclass for servitude.

Posted this the last time a bunch of Epstein emails were published
It's obviously not the ✨MAIN THING✨ going on in the emails, but why is it every time a bunch of emails of super-powerful rich people gets leaked they always read like the communications of barely-literate children (I know the answer to this question)?
Lest there be any insinuation that Dems spared their own. It would be tough for Kathy Ruemmler—Obama’s WH Counsel from 2011 to mid-2014—to come off looking worse in these docs the committee Dems released. oversightdemocrats.house.gov/sites/evo-su...
