An important detail to me about the Nuzzi/RFK Jr. thing was that their relationship was mostly built around *phone sex.*

I want everyone to take a step back for a second, remember why she was fired from New York and juxtapose this w/ all the high profile media folks that have recently lost *their* jobs. *Some* people are allowed to fail upwards. It's mesmerizing.

I know that in the age of media mega-mergers, basically any new movie or series has a roughly 50-50 shot of being technically "Disney." But it is still weird to see the name "Hideo Kojima" and the Disney+ logo on the same promo image.

Banging my "these people's appeal is they are unrepentant assholes who have never faced a consequence which sells other people on the promise that they too can never face consequences for bad actions" drum over and over again forever until it is in tatters.
something that gets lost in all of this re epstein is that it’s not that people talked to him and he remained powerful *despite* how well known his proclivities were

they talked to him bc his power was demonstrated by how he managed to avoid consequences for proclivities that were so well known

Nazi tattoos are a hard line. fail. next candidate
This is a yikes too. He gets dogwalked by Susan Collins even though Generic Dem has a 9 pt margin.

What I find funny is that the median Maine voter sees his tattoo and comments about sexual assault as a non-starter but we had how many people defending that shit here on Bluesky?

One of the GOP's sweatier Epstein defenses has been "if they had good stuff they'd have used it when Biden was president." But the growing awareness that Garland spiked anything that could look political explains this!
I feel like “mad at Merrick Garland” is going to hit a whole new level.

It's obviously not the ✨MAIN THING✨ going on in the emails, but why is it every time a bunch of emails of super-powerful rich people gets leaked they always read like the communications of barely-literate children (I know the answer to this question)?
Lest there be any insinuation that Dems spared their own. It would be tough for Kathy Ruemmler—Obama’s WH Counsel from 2011 to mid-2014—to come off looking worse in these docs the committee Dems released. oversightdemocrats.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

Hegseth, a daytime TV host whose job duties included "keep looking pretty," "get expensive haircuts," "keep a trim figure to fit into tailored suits," etc., is fixated on soldiers' personal appearance because that's what he has experience in, not in running a multi-trillion dollar organization.
Hegseth: "We don't need to be a military of beardos anymore. Do you know how many troops claim to be Nordic Pagan? No, suddenly it's become this real fake religious affiliation inside the Pentagon where troops came to be Nordic Pagan so they can grow a beard and nobody challenges them on it."

I just yesterday got back from four (cold, cloudy) days in Minneapolis and apparently missed by one day a clear cloudless night when I would have gotten to see the aurora for first time.
The universe reached down and lit the air on fire, but nothing burned, only glowed.

Aura in Minneapolis/Minnesota is insane.

Newt Gingrich was speaker for only 4 years, and resigned not only the speakership but from Congress entirely after his party had one (1) worse-than-expected midterm but was still the majority party.
Republicans constantly attack their Congressional leadership, and they remove leaders who fail to achieve the objectives desired by the base.

This 'infighting' hasn't been a 'distraction' or 'weakness' for them, it has produced victory after victory, including control of all three branches.
Oh yeah - never a convenient time to have some real talk about the dynamic that the Democrats in the Senate are led by bunch of chumps. Certainly not after they created the conditions for yet another base demoralizing surrender.

I played a few hours of Arc Raiders before I knew about the Gen-AI VA thing, and even not knowing the reason why, the voice acting is jarringly, distractingly bad. Like, I assumed it was all temp scratch tracks with devs’ voices and would get patched with actual actors at 1.0 launch.
The thing that gets me about ARC’s use of fully generated barks, as well as in The Finals, is that the juice is absolutely not worth the squeeze in a game that is unquestionably high effort. Like it sounds bad because there isn’t a human performance to ground it.
For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.

I love ending the string of racist Islamophobic paranoid ravings with the seemingly benign note about her husband being a “cardiologist.”
You hear that America, they’re doing cardiology now! Going to rearrange our arteries so they all face mecca!

Democrats have to stop bailing out Republicans from facing the consequences of their own policies. And yeah, that means they have to stop sparing voters from experiencing what GOP government truly means.

Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.
So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.
