🚨 💰 WOW — @SenatorHagerty & @MarshaBlackburn snuck a provision into the spending bill that would let them sue the government for $500,000 because Jack Smith looked into their phone records around Trump’s insurrection.

NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.
So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.
Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:

Two problems with this:
1. As a matter of Constitutional theory, the voters elected *you* to hold them to account in the first instance. If you’re going to punt to the voters every time, there’s no need for representative democracy
2. As a matter of substance, punting to voters keeps failing.

Should be pretty clear that without House commitment on a vote on ACA extensions, it is purely symbolic as part of the Senate deal
Q: Will you assure House Democrats they'll get a vote on ACA subsidies by a date certain?
MIKE JOHNSON: Ah -- no. I'm not promising anyone anything.

"Hyde language" would be a ban on anything related to abortion. So, any Senate Democrat that caves is agreeing to vote to implement a nationwide abortion ban in exchange for healthcare subsidies.
Democrats are likely to get a vote on an extension later. But they've already gotten similar votes. Republicans already vowing to block an extension without major changes to the ACA, like adding Hyde language.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

The weird bit though is that he won't be able to use any of Disney/Amblin's story or design changes and any new adaptations will have to start from his much weirder books.

Did we all not know about the 35-year Copyright reversion Clause? Gary K. Wolf just used it to get his Roger Rabbit rights back from Disney.
Apparently if you sold your rights to someone, you can serve them a notice between 25-38 years later and petition the library of congress to give them back.
