PORTLAND MAYOR: “There was a time when we could take the federal government at their word. That time is long past.”

As DHS tells the same exact story about a ‘weaponized’ vehicle— Mayor Wilson says they stand with Minnesota, and ICE agents must be investigated.

Ex-Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura: “We’re a 3rd world country now. I know. I’ve been to ‘em. I spent 17 months in SE Asia while the draft dodger was playing golf… that’s what happens in a dictatorship. In comes the military. That’s what’s happening here.” 🇺🇸

Voting rights advocates in Ohio worry that voters won’t realize the state has now banned grace periods for ballots sent through the mail. Lawmakers have not appropriated any money for educating the public on this change.
Ohio Bans Grace Periods for Mail Ballots, Fulfilling Trump’s Wishes
Ohio is the fourth GOP-run state this year to ban ballots that are postmarked by Election Day but arrive after. A Supreme Court case could force that policy nationwide next year.

Expect to see a surge of proud ignorance and proplawganda about what you can say about ICE agent Jonathan Ross, identified by local media as the person who shot and killed Renee Good.

In particular, expect a repeat of Rittenhouse-era “accusing him of murder is defamation” rhetoric.

It’s not.

Just like the NBA cup it is astoundingly pointless to have a tournament of teams all of whom compete to be in a different tournament later.

This works in soccer because the tournament INCLUDES OTHER LEAGUES
Commissioner Rob Manfred said he is considering the possibility of a split season or an in-season tournament.

But he added that adjusting the league schedule is more complicated than in other sports.

Excellent, clarifying piece on the (real) legal pathway that Minnesota has to prosecute the ICE agent who shot and killed a woman today.

No, federal agents do not have absolute immunity from start charges, no matter what the Trump administration claims.
Wrote a piece for @slate.com explaining that states have a long history of prosecuting federal officers when they allegedly use excessive force. Federal officers are only immune from such prosecutions when they act reasonably in carrying out lawful duties.
Minnesota Could Prosecute the ICE Shooter. Trump Can’t Pardon Him.
Shortly after an ICE officer shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, city leaders began looking into whether the officer had violated state criminal law.
