Important context here: when Peter Thiel and David Sacks began their war on diversity as undergrads at Stanford, thirty years ago, the very first tactic they adopted was to normalize slurs that had already been stigmatized out of mainstream society. This return of these hateful terms was a key goal.
“It turns out that banishing the slur from public discourse was, in fact, important. Because now it’s back and it turns out that it does matter when subtext becomes actual text, when terrible people enable open hatred and bigotry, encouraging others to emulate them, degrading us all.”
Perry: The return of the r-word
"These days, the r-word slur has become a staple of the American right wing, uttered with few professional or social consequences," David M. Perry writes.

Also, "some people" are bigots ...

Just because you wrap your bigotry in the cloak of religion, it doesn't make you any less of a bigot.

It does mean, however, you're missing the central message of Christianity ...

Despite numerous pilots evidencing that a 4 day week is usually better for the employee & the employer, the government rejects it out of hand. Why are Labour on the wrong side of so many issues?🤔

Every single study into a 4 day week has concluded that it's beneficial for employees and shown there's not a drop in productivity. It's not a sign of failure, it's a sign of progress but the UK government is more than happy to stagnate at best and march backwards at worst.

Also screw the BBC for its naked agenda. It refused to carry a hugely expensive first ever YouGov survey we commissioned showing how awful trans lives in the UK have become because it was "not strong enough" but there's no piece of anti-trans hatred too petty for it to platform.
Total gaslighting. Anti-trans activist; chooses to speak in person, provoking students who want to protect trans rights; they exercise their freedom of speech to tell her she isn't wanted; she gets to speak anyway; the BBC dutifully platforms her again; and now she threatens to sue everyone.

This is it!

Falling for reactionary BS about "free speech" has led us to basic rights being actually threatened and removed

They never wanted debate or discussion, their point was always about putting the very humanity of marginalised communities back in the balance
This kind of legal action against universities will chill the free speech of all who advocate for the rights of minoritised peoples. This was the bill’s intent. Lobbyists are already using it to shut down speech they don’t like.

Unless universities stand up strongly for ALL freedom of expression…

This is incredibly obviously going to be the rolling problem with a “tougher” immigration stance. We still need people to do things. And, ultimately, either we hire/retain them or the things don’t get done. Everything else is hollow rhetoric.

Absolute failures of reading comp. here as ppl say “so trans men with beards will have to use the ladies lol” no- the whole point is they are being asked not to use *either* men’s or womens toilets & be relegated to some mysterious third category. It’s not a punchline; horrific deliberate bigotry.
When this guidance is published (given legal standing), as it almost certainly will be, as a trans man I will not be allowed to use non-unisex public toilets. Which is almost every public toilet.

Just want that to sink in, there.
