people online are upset that Walz required schools to put menstrual products in the men’s restrooms. but it’s no big deal to put something in the men’s room most men don’t use. they already do that with the hand soap

Is Randy Rainbow over here yet? This has his name written all over it.
In a better world, Irving Berlin would already have composed “The Harris Waltz” and Vernon and Irene Castle would already have established it as an international dance craze.

If Biden had made the same mistake about the dates, NYT would have 5 columns tomorrow on how he's too old and must drop out.
NEW: Trump has agreed to take part in the previously scheduled ABC debate on Sept. 10, an ABC News spokesperson tells Brian Stelter. David Muir and Linsey Davis will moderate. Location TBA. Stelter says that Trump misspoke / mixed up the dates in his press conference

We are going to see so much more of this. Walz, a white Midwestern guy, will make them have to try to attack him "on the merits."

The problem being that GOP policy is broadly unpopular when explained on the merits, especially when it comes to things like this.

What’s your favorite way Tim Walz will “unleash hell?” I’ll start:

Tim Walz will unleash hell by insisting that we all stop fighting back here right now or he is turning this car around.
The felon sent out a fundraising text claiming that Tim Walz will “unleash hell on earth.”

What’s your favorite way Tim Walz will “unleash hell?” I’ll start:

Tim Walz will unleash hell by insisting that everyone fasten their damn seatbelts.

I cannot agree with this thread more. I was already teaching Admin Law this way and will again if I return to teaching in the future.
I'm not saying go 100% Realist, argue something like "the written law is irrelevant. Norms are irrelevant. It's all 100% pure politics."

That's an overstatement.

But if we aren't teaching our students how formal law translates into law-on-the-ground, we're doing them a disservice. In every class.

This piece. Read it.

And not just if you're a con law person. This passage is true for EVERY class.

The criminal code or caselaw isn't "the law" of crim, given cops don't have to make arrests (or can make flimsy claims), DAs don't have to charge (or can plea around bad police work), etc. etc.

If you have friends wondering if they have Long Covid—or equally, GPs who are unclear on it—a great new resource.
The New England Journal of Medicine just published a summary of the new NASEM definition of Long Covid, in case that can help you figure it out! You don’t have to read the whole thing, if you scroll to “Box 1” (just below Figure 1), it has a good summary of the summary! Also great to share w/a GP.
Long Covid Defined | NEJM
Members of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine describe the process and rationale for the development of the 2024 definition of persistent Covid-19 symptoms (long Covid).

This is so true.

My great-grandfather (Sicilian) and great-grandmother (Jewish) were each thrown out of their respective families for marrying each other. Most likely today the only issues would be what the service looks like and how the kids are raised.

This is dumb and weird. OK very online white people, your job now is to remind your normie friends that K. Harris grew up in Oakland and attended Howard University at 18. Trump's attack is designed to invalidate her and it cannot stand. But we're not going to see those attacks. So it's on you.
… This was not an accident. Trump wants a birther-style campaign against Harris, and it will now begin in earnest. Initial responses:

Time spent genuinely worrying about whether you are leaving the world a better place is one of the best signals that you are, in fact, doing so.
On the dark days when I worry that I am leaving the world worse than I found it, I remind myself that librarians used my books to get a bunch of kids reading.

And also the many turtles I have helped across the road. When my heart is on the scales, really hoping the turtle weight makes up for it.
