look ill stand by it. I don't think it makes a lot of sense to argue about which is 'worse' and I think the result is different. but i think 'what happened to us' wrt phones, online, social media, shortform video, whatever, needs to be talked about in context of the og screentime
people love talking about phone addiction but I think its all actually happening in the context of generations-deep tv addiction so terminal that we don't even notice it anymore

Any time corporate executives are in a room together and don't know they're being recorded, the transcript is like: "Christ, I hate our customers. We're agreed that we all hate our customers? Let's lie to the IRS, criminally. Did I mention the Holocaust never happened? Put more lead in our soda."

@thorazos.bsky.social is easily my favorite comic making person. I finally finished World Within the World. I own most of the zines in the collection already, but it's a really monumental collection. The amount of great comics within is staggering.

I’ve been looking for publishers for my novella for a few weeks and so far I’ve found maybe 5 that are even open
It's dire when you try to help authors find where to submit excellent manuscripts, and there's just hardly anything. Not even talking about the chances of acceptance; just anywhere to even *try* that's all of: the right genre, open, open to unagented, decent, and safe. Everyone's closed.

If you think "authors shouldn't be political" you're straight up a dumbass with the mind of a child.
So apparently: "authors shouldn't be political," is doing the rounds again.

So let's go over this again.
• trans rights are human rights
• LGBTQ+ rights are human rights
• gay people deserve to marry and adopt
• Women's rights are humsn rights.
• Believe women
• black lives matter

If Night Road gives the fantasy of having a car, a job, and a dog, Book of Hungry Names lets you believe you're young, broke, can eat whatever you find, and can blow off your job to hang out with your friends in an abandoned house.

@thestarfishface.bsky.social having read both editions of How To Webcomic, something still eludes me. How did you figure out *how* you wanted to draw your webcomic; as in how did you find your style/inspo for that style?
