Don't write for an audience. Make the comic for you. Feed your brainworms. Make it something you would read and obsess over forever. You'll be working on this thing for a long time, if you lose interest halfway through, then the rest becomes a slog.

If I had a nickel for every time an animated series had a character that looked eerily similar to one of my OCs, I'd have 2 nickels

Making snippets of full YT videos into shorts (+cross-posting them onto other platforms) is a game changer. I always knew it was something I could be doing but I've actually started doing it and it's like... wowe. I should've been doing this the whole dang time--

Having said all that- Gonna keep throwing my YT audience at people with comic promos when I can. I feel like it's something I can do to make a difference, even if it's a small one.

It's slow, and can be painful, but it's like gardening. Practice patience and consistency, always be researching and learning how to do things better, take the little wins where you can, and eventually you'll start seeing blooms. 🌸

I remember having to personally coach a friend through how to advertise a crowdfunding campaign after Hiveworks staff completely dropped the ball in half a dozen ways. It still makes me livid years later. I was rejected from HW early in Castoff’s run, and it feels like I dodged a major bullet.
