when I was young, i used to wonder how people like this would fare in life, as they didn't seem suited for gainful employment. it turns out, the internet allowed them to accumulate a massive audience of similar idiots, enriching them and turning them into a presidential advisor

NEW: The classic anime "Ghost in the Shell" turned 30 years old this week.

Despite coming out at the dawn of the internet, it was incredibly prescient in terms of imaginig a future where governments use hackers for espionage, people use malware to spy on their loved ones, and much much more.

If all goes as planned, local developer JB Vang could break ground on a residential project at the Hamm’s site next year.

I connected a WiFi enabled solenoid valve to a hose and set up a script on my phone so when the camera detected a squirrel it got blasted with the hose briefly. It was very effective.

USA 2.0 we’re doing sortition for a 1:30,000 unicameral legislature
I know this guy is a senator but he’s a prime example why we need vastly more people in Congress. We can’t keep letting the literal stupidest failsons having so much legislative power.
Markwayne Mullin: "Reward people for being healthy. Think about this. Healthcare is the only industry that you're not rewarded for taking care of your responsibility. If you think about homeowners insurance, if you're within 500 feet of a fire hydrant, your insurance goes down."

(I would not have noticed this, except I just went on an excellent @chiarchitecture.bsky.social walking tour of Chicago's elevated train system, where I learned that rivets were used originally and bolts for later repairs.)
