The millisecond it looks like progressive leftists have a shot with the party, the Establishment centrist moderates say “not on my watch” and tank the Party because “vote blue no matter who” only applies if you aren’t a progressive leftist.

I want to tell a true story about Rep. Mickie Sherrill. On 1/6/2021, she was a newly sworn-in Congressperson who was in the House chamber when DJT’s MAGA terrorists broke into the US Capitol building. 1/x

What he doesn't buy, his American buddies will shut down. PM Orbán, who is on his way to Washington, has already received his first gift from Trump: the closure of Radio Free Europe in Hungary. The reason? "Undermining staunch allies does not serve the American people."

Orbán buys one of the best-read newspapers of the country. This is a major deterioration in a media environment that is already heavily politically controlled, as highlighted in my recently adopted report. This cannot go on - there are no fair elections without free information!
Shock as Orbán allies take ownership of Hungary’s most-read newspaper

What happens now is that every dropped piece of trash, every inch of graffiti, every broken down subway train, every disappointing sandwich, every rat in Central Park, and every single crime gets blamed on Zohran Mamdani... by racists who never go near NYC.
My tip as a Londoner. Shrug and carry on.

So has he booked his appearance for this yet, or is he waiting for Mamdani to assume office?

When I worked in WaPo Opinions in 2017-2018, senior editors specifically told junior editors not to factcheck Marc Thiessen and other MAGA columnists, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to publish anything by them at all, and “we need them for intellectual diversity.”
It’s very telling that opening your publication to MAGA “thought” requires a massive downgrade in quality control.

Laws and rules cannot restrain King Trump except this one made up one that won’t allow him to feed hungry Americans
Trying to blame the Dems cutting off SNAP (while sitting on billons of available contingency funds) as his boss bulldozes the WH to build a ball room like Saddam's palace, sends $40 billion to bail out Argentines, and eats "gold adorned" brownies in Korea is not gonna work.
Mike Johnson: "On Saturday, things are gonna become very dire."

In the long run, Biden keeping that wall between himself and DOJ - leading to the conviction and humiliation of his son - achieved absolutely nothing. The standard is gone. The incentive for future presidents is to punish your enemies and say "your mom, lol" when reporters ask about it.
there are good & worthwhile historical & legal arguments for why the unitary executive is nonsense but to my mind the most straightforward argument is that it makes no logical sense that the president has absolute removal power over the people whose job it is to keep the executive branch accountable
The Inspector General system is basically broken now. Most IGs have been fired, most positions remain vacant. Those who remain or would take the job pose no risk to holding the regime accountable.
Congress added more barriers to Trump firing IGs after his first term. He just ignored them.

Just look at how cops acted during the last DSA-affiliated mayor: David Dinkins. He wasn’t anti-cop, he significantly expanded NYPD, increased their budget, all that, but because he pushed to hold bad cops accountable, they literally rioted.

This is bullshit. The LLM happily spit out words that are used in papers and publications that have previously announced the design and synthesisation of viruses, but it did nothing of the sort. We don't even know if this virus is viable.

We at The Steady State have studied the indicators of authoritarianism for decades — usually dry words in intelligence reports. But sometimes, a single photograph says it all.
Authoritarianism doesn’t arrive all at once. It creeps in under cover of “order,” cloaked in uniforms, justified by fear.
