To the "civility" people, saying the word "fuck" is violence, but the cops shooting tear gas is "peace keeping", ripping a parent from their children is "doing their job". They want to control the definition of violence and their monopoly on the use of it.

Amongst the many reasons I miss Prince is that, though he was mercurial and flawed in many ways, I have no doubt he would have been fearless and crystal clear in standing up for Minneapolis and its people.

One thing it took some effort to learn after moving to Ireland is that the Vikings were not a monolithic group, as I was taught in Murica, bc why would Americans need to know subtleties about Viking domination?

I see people talk about ICE by calling them the Gestapo, and while its not hard to see the comparison; they really aught to be compared to something homegrown. Because in truth, the closest thing we can compare ICE to is to federal slave catchers. The operation is the same.

Folks in the US still like to treat the whole Greenland invasion stuff as sufficiently unserious to engage with, but it is sufficiently serious that NATO allies are actively deploying tripwire forces to deter the US. That is *already* a political and actual cost to them, and to US relationships

I thought my peers & the kids slightly older were the absolute worst growing up, but thought we'd mellowed after having kids. Absolutely hate that middle age has proven me right.

I wasn’t going back there, but Target allowing the feds to kidnap and brutalize its employees cements my revulsion at this company.
A Minnesota state representative said two Richfield Target employees detained by U.S. Border Patrol on Jan. 8 were U.S. citizens and were both injured in the incident.

anyway as i have said many times — and literally just wrote on saturday — i think we should abolish ICE as well as unravel DHS and i welcome elected officials who embrace both outright but i am also aware that any senate majority will contain moderate and conservative democrats who need an on-ramp.
