Hahaha yes! I have heard that one! As you correctly discerned it is ridiculous and not true. Any cat with visible tabby markings can have an “M”. Has nothing to do with Maine Coon lineage.

Cooking methods have changed too
Far less braising, stewing, cooking to well done
Why? Lots of changes to sanitation/hygiene
We worry about pork because we KNEW that was a heat issue. Funny thing is the US hasn't had a case of trichinosis from commercial port in ~70 years. We could eat it rare.

My great aunt’s DAR application was rejected the first time because the ancestor she named turned out to be a British loyalist but accepted the second time. My most recently immigrated ancestor came to the US in the 1840s.
