They are citizens with employment rights, professionals with ethical obligations, not just public and state servants. So when work conditions make safe, competent practice impossible, acting collectively, including through lawful strike, is an exercise in professional integrity, not party politics.

Fact is: strikes are lawful when they relate to collective bargaining (pay, hours, staffing, workload etc.) and/or genuine health and safety concerns, and when required notices/ballots are done. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Public servants must be politically neutral in their official roles, but they are also ordinary citizens with employment rights. Political neutrality does not erase the right to organise, bargain, and, where lawful, strike; nor does it forbid people from being politically active outside work.

Striking over workload, safety, pay, staffing and the coherence and sequence of change is industrial, not “party-political”. In Aotearoa the legal test is the purpose of the action, not whether the government’s policy settings form the backdrop.

They are evil…

They said it was about getting the process right (which we all knew was bullshit).

This shows it was just about saving money.

Remember this at the next election… they are taking money from low paid women to save money.

They need to be voted out!

They have attempted to restrict access for union organisers, are behaving aggressively and hiding workers from having fair representation.

We should be clear that this is National & ACT government ministers actively & openly praising a fascist and anti-Islamic government.

The temple they celebrate was built on the ruins of a mosque destroyed by Hindu fanatics. The Indian PM they praise is responsible for a pogrom of Muslims. Shameful.
There has been very little coverage in the NZ media of ministers praising Narendra Modi at at event celebrating the construction of the Shri Ram Mandir, so I wrote about why this is significant
