Youth unemployment rate is now over 16% (1 in 6). The underutilisation rate - young people wanting work or more work - is 38% ffs - 190,000 young kiwis. That's nearly half of the total. It took a fking decade for youth unemployment to recover last time. Same plan this time. No plan.

Cold hard rage from Marina Hyde

"Never mind Manufacturing Consent – have a read of Not Giving A Shit About Consent. I thought Chomsky cared about power and exploitative elites? Still, nice photo of him laughing it up with Steve Bannon...

...They all sell out women in the end"
Never forget Epstein’s little helpers – the powerful men who knew about his crimes, and helped him out anyway | Marina Hyde
I’m sorry, but this is not just a political scandal. Time to refocus on the horrific mistreatment of women and girls, and the role of these ghouls, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

It is absolutely a choice for government not to ensure every kid has access to the support and resources they need to thrive at home and at school.
Parents and teachers of disabled children want them to have the best opportunities for full lives. That usually means inclusive education with support in main stream schools. Disabled kids can grow up to be adults thriving in the real world, with some help.

I regret to inform you that “1979” by Smashing Pumpkins was released in 1996, which is now 30 years ago. Meaning a similar song released in 2026 would be called “2009”

This is the reality for disabled kids in Aotearoa, and it doesn't need to be.

We have all the resources we need to build an equitable society - we just have to choose to tax appropriately so we can keep our human rights promises.

When I think about measles I think about the number 1,000. Thats the number that epidemiologists use to explain harm from measles in children. With 1,000 cases, about 200 children will require hospitalization, 50 will develop pneumonia, and one to three will die.

South Carolina is at 789.

After 17 years, the Crown finally agrees disabled kids should have equitable education access.

This is a great step forward but also such a low bar it's hard to be wholly delighted.

Very well done to IHC for their tenacity.
