I guess we're through?

It would be cool to have free-to-air, but meanwhile RNZ does a good job.

Penny Simmonds ay?
First the debacle of Whaikaha
Then she came for Te Pūkenga
Why would anyone be surprised that the Ministry for the Environment would be dismantled when she was appointed?

After a difficult start with Whaikaha, evisceration of ministries is her special skill now.
New: The government has introduced legislation to abolish the Ministry for the Environment as part of its plans to build a new super-agency tasked with urban development, planning, infrastructure and transport.

Govt to disband environment ministry as part of agency merger
The environment department will be abolished and folded into a new super-ministry for cities, environment, regions and transport.

I think it’s time for nationalised, Government-run supermarkets.

We don’t need a third player in the market who will just cartel up with the other two and keep prices soaring.

We need a baseline store who undercuts those motherfuckers until they are the ones doing the panicking.

Happy for them to waste time on this delays passing more consequential legislation that can only be bad for most of us - like killing of the ministry for the environment.

Day 16: A song you disliked at first

Their songs and videos were so strong and empowering, and then there was this!

I eventually came to terms with it.

Also we are only 45 days into 2026!

Can we talk about climate change now?

Reflections on a life of service in police and corrections from Kim Workman.

Words of experience, warning and inspiration our leaders should take very seriously indeed.
“..our prison pop has soared to 11k inmates. The muster is disproportionately Māori (53.4%) & trending upward. PM Luxon declared increase in prison muster a ‘good thing’, characterising it as price of ‘restoring law & order”

MP’s said same 64yrs ago. It wasn’t true then, & it’s not true now. #nzpol

What drugs charge is so bad a sole caregiver for a 5 y.o. is sent to prison?
If serious, why would child be left with a mate?

If minor, why wouldn't home detention be more appropriate?
If serious, why would such a temporary arrangement be ok?
