I found this Back to the Future set far more enjoyable to build than the bigger version

The big one just frustrated me

7yo chose that we would make the 2nd film’s car

This makes me angry. We were “lucky” & got the diagnosis & appointments for getting the meds right under the public system. However… we started the fight in the public system when the 7yo was about 3. It’s been exhausting.

I really feel for the families that this “clarification” has affected
What EXACTLY is the point of insurance if it refuses to pay out for things that are impacting your ability to function?

You'd be better off just having a savings account than paying premiums into a policy that might change its coverage because it'll impact profits

ADHD and autism treatment not covered by insurer
Specialists and families have been taken by surprise that Southern Cross Health Insurance won't fund treatment.

Mmmmm I can smell the banana choc chip muffins that are currently baking 🤤

Playing the original Spyro again. Just rescued the pain in the ass dragon that Mum and I absolutely cracked up when we saw his name the first time we got him…

it’s the same name as my Dad 😂

Talking family history with my Nan, she’s telling me about her Grandmother.

Widowed at 48 years old with 12 “children”. She remarries another widow who had 10 “children”

Although I know why they had large families, it still blows my mind thinking about being a Mum to that many!

The 7yo is down in the garage destroying a box with a hammer.

All I can hear is squeals of delight and laughing maniacally

I have a very cuddly 7yo right now. Think he might be getting sick. Not the way we wanted the school holidays to end

Doing the food shopping online is soooo much easier than walking around the supermarket with the 7yo constantly asking for things

One of my last purchases…

Makes me feel like a big kid drinking out of it ☺️

Bluey wins again…

Watched the episode “Grandad” yesterday. In it, Chilli is trying to get Bluey to eat her pumpkin seeds.

Today, the 7yo decided he wanted pumpkin seeds with his lunch (and is actually eating them) ☺️

Maybe our last ever purchase from EB Games 😔

Was surprised how much was still in the Porirua store, given how empty the Queensgate one was last week.

But the 7yo and I are happy with what we got (he absolutely adores his new Spongebob cap!)

Have put my out of office on again as I’m taking leave for the final week of school holidays

It’s only been 2 weeks back at work for the new year, and I already feel like I’m in desperate need of this week off.

Not a good omen for the rest of the year…

The 7yo has pretty much been cooped up inside all day because his Dad wasn’t feeling well.

And oh dear lord, it’s made him extremely exhausting to deal with this afternoon/evening.

And I was already ready to crash after a full on day at work 🥱

I’ve finally just started reading Jacinda Ardern’s memoir.

And I am currently trying to not cry on the bus while she describes her Mum’s breakdown.

It’s bringing back memories for myself when my Mum had her breakdown when I was young too ❤️

I wish they would update it to match the boundary changes though.

It still tells me that I’m in the Ōhāriu electorate, which I know won’t exist in the next election.

Does anyone know when this info gets updated?

Although, not sure I am thrilled about being in Hutt South now 😂
As the date for Election 2026 has been announced (November 7), now is a good time to check if you are enrolled to vote, and to update your details if needed. vote.nz/enrolling/en... #election #decision2026 #nzPol

PSA have pointed out the irony of election day being on the same day as Public Service Day with the fact we have this anti Public Service government.

I mean… come on… voting starting on Labour Day too…
Hey the voter suppression laws mean you can only vote up to twelve days before November 7 and have to be registered thirteen days before that. Twelve days before Nov 7 is 26 October. THAT IS LABOUR DAY. THE ELECTION VOTING STARTS ON LABOUR DAY.

Playing the Game of Life with the 7yo. I get teacher as a career.

7yo: “that’s a very hard job”

😂 I think so too

How did I lose Jenga to my ADHD kid who was constantly moving. Even when pulling blocks out?!
January 20, 2026 at 5:44 AM
I am surprised I have not crashed yet.

I had an insanely busy work day. The only break I got was a short lunch.

Since finishing work, I have been playing with the 7yo
Curious to when I will crash today.

I’m guessing I had 3 hours sleep max last night

When my son was born, we lived near the Botanics. Walking through the Botanics with him strapped to me was great for my mental health!

Then we moved, up a massive hill. I then joked I looked so hood because I was walking up that hill with him strapped to me/in the stroller so much 😂
ABSOLUTELY.
I have been running a blog series on how to make better cities. We are up to Part 8 as of this post covering the Reclaiming of Our Streets.

Managed to get into an EB Games

Not much left

Came out with a new Moana Bitty Pop for me. A Ghostbusters Pop and a Pokemon tshirt for the 7yo.

Felt so sad seeing the store empty like that

I should stop using Uber Eats…

Our food was picked up 20 minutes ago. Driver had 1 stop along the way… which was in a suburb in a completely different direction to where we live.

They will drive past where they picked our food up from to get to us.

They are still about 10 minutes away from us
