Tēnā koutou, allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Alice Soper and for the next six week's I will be your rugby reporter for the women's Rugby World Cup.
#womensrugby #RWC2025 #blackferns
Also, I had a volunteer thank me for being a safe person when they were feeling a bit anxious and that’s basically the biggest compliment you could give me. So I’m winning today.
Just noting that if you want to show Tamatha Paul some love after the last couple of weeks, now’s a great time to volunteer!

We have a phone bank this Thursday, 6-8pm and a door knock this Sunday 12-2pm.

I train you personally before you have a crack 🙂

Nick Leggett was a Labour mayor in Porirua who flipped to become a National candidate to run for mayor in Wellington.

He also created this video to try and win a competition.

And I just think it’s important we remember these things:

We just went down to check this now the water has settled cause this storm drain is down the side of our property so wanted to check it’s okay and holy heck. Popped the whole top!

Put the lid back on cause I was worried about kids in the neighbourhood and will lodge it for inspection.

We took advantage of a gap in the heavy rain and between gusts to hammer our shed roof back together.

But a little lol at this silly little panel being the only part of the house that was damaged.

Meanwhile, I’m texting a mate who is watching the water rise outside her window making a plan to evacuate and another mate is out clearing trees for the council, trying to work safe in the wild winds.
For folks not in our region, I know we have a reputation for wind. But what was so scary overnight was there was no let up.

I am used to big gusts, I am used to higher winds. I am not used to both lasting more than 12 hours.

And this is from a part of the region that is more sheltered than most.

Well dang.

Our government doesn’t need to be giving more money to men’s sports.

This is so embarrassing.

This is the worst I can ever remember wind being here.

What a great photo of Brazilian alpine skier Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, the first South American to ever win a medal at the Winter Olympic Games.

Door knocking is my abso favourite way of campaigning. Lots of great yarns with folks today.

You should come hang out with us and give it a go. It’s always more fun than you think!

If you saw the news that coverage of last year's world cup was fine and you thought to yourself, bullshit, so did I.

Here's why:

Off the Hook
World Cup media analysis has been used to get media off the hook, I'm putting them back on it for failing women's rugby fans

So homophobia is back in a big way huh? Just had to unfollow an old team physio cause he was making cheap gay “jokes” for likes.

Between injecting acid into their dicks and confessing infidelity on the podium, dudes are giving weird vibes at these Olympics.

Neurodivergence, the game.

You all really liked this haha

I’ll have to capture more kai gathers for ya.
Anyway, let’s pick some beans for dinner.

So something cooked is going on at the Chiefs Manawa. 15 players departing this season.

While I’m happy that my Poua are picking up Renee Holmes and Mererangi Paul is a great fit for the Blues, it should be ringing big alarm bells for the comp.

Stacey Waaka is incredible.

If you volunteer with me, I will microdose you with sports.

Just popping back to say, this has been the most excellent find. I love this machine so much and the coffee is so good 🥹
One the the best opshop scores of late. A ROK Presso manual espresso machine.

I love her.

Pathetic stuff from the Phoenix.

Putting on a double header but not putting on the staff to get people into the stadium.

Will we make kick off? Probably not.

It's Waitangi Day but rather than have the day off, I've been crunching the numbers on women coaching rugby.

And sorry to say, last year things got worse.

Are we ready to intervene yet? When we are, I've got a list of targets ready to go.

So many runner beans in the garden at the moment, I can see why people used to have those old school bean slicers.
