Man certainly seems like we've got a fucken heap of water infrastructure problems in terms of drinking, waste and stormwater around the motu right now - let me count them - ah yes, that's Three Waters.

I'm not unsympathetic to this but if you look at cultural histories of television as a medium, "writing for people who aren't looking at the screen" has been the default since the 1950s. a) because TV writers were drawn from radio, at least in the UK, and b) it's a device impinging on domestic space
I am watching a series in which the protagonist addresses his daughter as "babygirl" and his son as "little man" and his partner as "partner." The insistence that TV needs to be for people who can't bother to look at the screen is killing writing, show by show, episode by episode, line by line.

Please help Khalil and his family if you can, his children are going days at a time without food
Khalil was so sad tonight. He's poured out his heart to me. He is lonely, he has his wife, children and elderly father but no other family or friends. He lost 18 members of his family in a single moment, a single attack.

New Zealand never needed this rule because we grew up with an ice cream commercial that taught us "if you can't see the water, you're in underpants"

Did you know that 'Friday the 13th' falls 3 times this year?

Decided I'd make a special schedule on my pirate IPTV channel for when it does. Mostly episodes of horror anthologies, starting (fittingly) with Friday the 13th The Series

Open in VLC to watch:

I’m not a beggar and I’m not seeking pity.
All that’s going on is that I’m a father trying to get my daughter’s treatment after losing my income because of the war, but unfortunately, I haven’t received any help to speak of. 💔😔

Anti-trans hate is an industry. Not a movement, not a moral concern, not an organic uprising of worried parents — an industry, deliberately constructed, lavishly funded, & strategically deployed to protect the interests of the powerful men who finance it

This is reasonable, enough of councils kicking the can down the road. If we kept putting off rates rises services would end up being privatised and we'd pay more in the long run

+ Lower interest rates for mortgages cancel this out, & there are rebates for pensioners

Good advice. You can add more sites than just RNZ, and this will improve Google News results

Bit late to it but if you want to know the chain of events that led to us importing gas (and charging electricity users to pay for it!!), I did this deep dive for RNZ last year www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...
The fuel of ‘last resort’: How imported gas became New Zealand’s first choice
It's expensive, vulnerable to price shocks and terrible for the planet. So why are we importing gas?

I heard about Parenti's death when it happened, but I wanted to share an obituary that covered his flaws as well as his strengths and this was the first I found.

Parenti did some good work, but he was wrong on Bosnia- beyond wrong, a genocide denier

I've admittedly never been up with popular music, but I happened to read today that Bad Bunny was the most streamed artist on Spotify last year, he's incredible popular and I imagine more Americans wanted to watch his half time show than Kid Rock, a guy who's best selling album was released in 1998
What's interesting is they won't watch pop culture stuff, but they *will* watch a 5 hour stream of a guy pissing and moaning and selling weird online dick pills and tacticool prepper stuff about it.

They'll happily watch hours and hours a day for days, of a guy freaking out about it
Chuds and MAGA don't watch football. They don't watch sports. They get online to bitch about sports. And yes, there are sports fans who vote Trump. But MAGA doesn't watch sports. Trump and JD Vance are the last people would ever sit through a sporting event or watch one on TV by choice
