I once did a deeply puerile thing and rang the Home Office to ask for comment on the growing campaign to abolish the Home Office, which was basically "one think tank paper and some posts". The note of genuine panic in the flack's voice is something I cherish to this day. See how you fucking like it.
This is so disgusting.

Think of Brexit as a vote to eat all future meals at a new restaurant.

We've now been there. We've tried everything on the menu. We know the food is horrible.

Imagine holding a referendum on whether to keep eating its terrible food. That's a very different starting point from the last one in 2016.

100s of thousands fewer people paying to come to Britain to study bringing in much needed foreign currency. Every student who arrives is worth more than selling a luxury car abroad. Their loss is a disaster for the economy caused by obsessive fear of immigrants.

Only because he has finally run out of things to be wrong about. Please don't forgivw or forget, the man was a 24 carat loon about about COVID and Brexit, and thanks to Boris the Liar, he has an unelected, paid position of influence on the legislative process for the rest of his life.

Illegal migration isn't tearing this country apart, but our obsession with it is. It's an obsession fuelled by our media and politicians. Both profit from blowing the problem out of all proportion. It's been happening for decades, but never more so than now

Almost without exception, such 'patriots' loathe everything that actually makes Britain a great country and long for a smaller country, with narrower horizons, and a meaner future, based on a version of the past that never existed.

Exactly this. You don’t get to pick what voters care about! You certainly shouldn’t tell them what they care about!

Boris Johnson’s team learned this the hard way in the UK, when they kept telling the public that they didn’t care about them partying during Covid. Turned out they really, really did.
made a similar point on the opinions podcast this week in response to the idea that epstein is a dead end. not only are actual voters interested in this but it divides the gop and puts pressure on the president. it would be political malpractice to treat it as a sideshow
The usual suspects are telling Dems that Epstein won’t win elections, get back to “affordability” and I think my head might explode. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...

The soft pedaling language being used to describe the men in the Epstein files is enraging.

They didn’t “have sex with underage girls”.

They raped them.

Sex implies consent.

The survivors deserve better than this. Use the correct language. Say what these men did.

Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.
