Woah, Woah, Woah.

You're telling me no one reporting on or involved in the Trump v BBC story thought to check, until now, whether Prescott's quote of Trump was itself accurate?

That is wild

My view, which I suspect will be unpopular among fellow journalists, is that the BBC should not report political stories based on unnamed sources; in fact it is crucial that they do not if they are to rebuild public trust
Every journalist briefed by No 10 re Streeting knows who did it but now maintains the fiction it’s not clear who did. Treating government as a political campaign feeds journalists but it is bad government eg the huge number of leaks re Budget options has chilled the economy.

Massive congratulations to @tbij.bsky.social's family court reporter @hansummers.bsky.social who, alongside @louisetickle.bsky.social, won Campaign of the Year at last night's Society of Editors Media Freedom Awards. Hugely well-deserved

I've been investigating the huge levels of exploitation faced by workers on the seasonal worker visa for the last few years, and have often asked myself why the trade union movement has ignored these workers.

So I spoke to unions, big and small, to try and answer that question.

As I listen to Farage accuse the BBC of institutional bias I can only assume I've slipped into a parallel dimension where he and his parties haven't been given disproportionate coverage by the Beeb for at least a decade - especially in the last 12 months

Objectivity, impartiality and balance are all *different things*, and the lazy tendency to treat them as synonyms, and to use partisan balance alone as a proxy for the others, is the root cause of a vast amount of nonsense.
Robbie Gibb once suggested that reporters should reflect if they were getting more retweets from one side than the other - a braindead analysis that ignores that fair and impartial reporting of education might get more Tory retweets than say, criminal justice.
Stephen really does have the best take on this. It’s not clear that the BBC Board or indeed the rest of the News team really understood the message of the previous reviews, which were about getting detail right. Instead they wanted to know what was ‘biased’ or not like they were blotting out stains.

Oh joy. Another few weeks of the BBC talking about the BBC. It's the Manchester United of broadcasting.

No surprise whatsoever that if comes down the left after bringing Udogie and Odobert on

The triangle of Udogie, Odobert and Xavi linked together really well on Tuesday (and has looked good on other occasions). Frank needs to stick with that combination as much as possible. Chopping and changing just isn’t working

Back to earth with a bump after a promising win midweek. Not surprised with that lineup. Taking Udogie and Odobert out means we have nothing on the left. Some disappointing performances, most notably Richy who has been dreadful. United have had to do next to nothing to be winning this game

My favourite bakery has increased the price of my favourite cookies (and, judging by sales, the town's favourite too) by a whopping 47% per pack overnight, causing to me to wonder how much is too much to charge? The answer, given that I bought another pack, is apparently not this much

The comparison with Son is obvious (and uncanny) but for me the dominant physicality displayed by Micky tonight was reminiscent of Bale at his peak. A player on another level in terms of pace and power and he knows it
