Undeniably cool to have a Stankovic in the team

I may be wrong but it also feels like a relatively new problem, and by that I mean over the last ten years or so. I'm sure it's happened on a smaller scale far longer than that, but nothing like this. Social media, and how it has distored news coverage, is a big factor

I can't read, listen or watch the output of very senior political journalists at the BBC without wondering, to be blunt, who has told you to say that. Too often they come across as the mouthpiece for the last person who briefed them. That cannot be right

I don't think it's possible to put such a policy in place across all subjects and all media, of course, but I do strongly believe there is a specific issue with the BBC and its political coverage. It's lost sight of the hugely significant role it plays, and the responsibility it carries with it

Anyway, that's my hill

My personal take a journalist is that, when it comes to this sort of thign, if the source feels strongly enough, they should go on the record. Sure, that would prove too high a bar to pass for 90% of these sort of stories, but that's the bar the BBC should set

People need to watch, listen or read the BBC's journalism (and that includes the analysis provided by its journalists) and have confidence that it's an accurate and unbiased account of the events in question, instead of wondering who planted the stroy and for what means

Let me be clear: I'm not talking about leaking information in the public interest. I'm talking about political gossip, as that's essentially what this is. The BBC's coverage of UK politics is rife with it. It has been for years. It should be left to the tabloids.

For far too long senior journalists at the BBC have allowed themselves to be manipulated by political figures who know their agenda can be shared with millions of people, and given a vaneer of authenticity, while they hide behind anonymity, via political correspondents who are far too obliging

Like is not the right word but 16-year-old me would find it hilarious/depressing how much housework I do

I know it's more serious than this flippant remark. Our institutions cowing to foreign interference isn't a laughing matter. But few things are more tedious than the BBC overreporting its own problems

Either way, there are at least three players on the bench who are more effective than Richy
