For about ten years I've thought about what a Tom Waits TV Christmas special produced in the early 80s would have been like. It's almost real to me. The set is a Depression-era shack he built and a stream of celebrity hobos keep knocking on the door and Tom goes "I wOnDEr WHo tHaT cOuLd bE"

Not so much questions as it is either complaints about something vaguely related that I don’t specialize in, OR assuming I’m locked and loaded to opine on the latest internet backlash
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Had a nightmare that I went down the shore with my roommate’s friends who don’t like me very much and they left me behind and made things really complicated and lied to me about how long the trip was and sent me home early :((((
