Well, I’m not quite old enough to have served in WW I, although my mother’s father did.

Leo was in the trenches in France 107 years ago today.
Their protections where the height they could fly. The biplanes could reach that high and the pilots and navigators would freeze. They were free to do their bombing runs.

If they caught fire there would two options. Burn or jump.
As a child I lived in Akron. We were close enough to the Zeppelin Dock that we saw them all the time and thought that was normal.

And, yeah, they were always cool - especially the sound they made: like a very slow airplane walking through the sky.

I read on a non-US site that Trump, after being booed endlessly at the Commanders game, left the premise. So he couldn’t stand it. Good.

The idea that Trump is tough on crime is backwards bullshit
Jonathan Braun is at least the 8th "convict to whom Mr. Trump granted clemency during his first term who has since been charged with a crime." He received a 27-mo. sentence on Mo. for "a range of criminal conduct — including physical and sexual assault."

“woke” is when you acknowledge that black people have contributed to the united states
Two panels commemorating the contribution of Black American soldiers towards the liberation of the Netherlands in World War Two have been quietly removed from a cemetery in Limburg. It follows a complaint by right-wing think tank The Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission.

Jeffries: Who? Nobody who is serious in this country takes Dr. Oz seriously… I’m not going to respond to any comments from randos like Dr. Oz who is woefully unqualified.

Conservatives were trying to flip Spokane in 2023, & failed. They were hoping to flip Spokane in 2025, but instead the Dem-affiliated side appear to have gained ground.
The Progressive challenger just defeated the Republican incumbent to swing the Spokane City Council to a 6-1 Supermajority!

Democrats reveal whistleblower details of Ghislaine Maxwell prison ‘luxuries’
In a letter to the president, House Democrats say Maxwell’s treatment as she prepares a clemency request makes the convicted sex offender look like a “guest at a Trump hotel.”

Kaine was re-elected last November. He’s betting on weathering this out.
Senators on the brink of retirement who lived full, wealthy lives and never feared the loss of their own healthcare voting for their constituents to die from their inability to afford the same is treasonous

This is so weird.

I remember from Boy Scout camp watching the process of turning hemp threads into marine quality cable, just as had been done for millennia.

Hemp is more than the weed these dim-bulbs fear.
More than 15 Senate Democrats join GOP to advance nationwide ban on hemp products, including CBD gummies,
oh the paul amendment is going down 78-22

This is a fascinating analysis of why and what might be going on.

Also, Rosie’s right about sticking with your party. The laws of every state, district and territory are hard-wired to allow only the two we have. That won’t change.

Our politicians are speaking for us in Chicago: Homeland Security needs to get the hell out and leave us alone.
Federal agents pepper-sprayed a baby girl in Little Village this weekend. There's no limit to what these thugs will do.

To make Chicago safe again, we need ICE and CBP to get the hell out of our city.

5/6 They assumed outrage would fade.
That’s how senators survive messy votes...betting on short public memory.
They didn’t think they’d face consequences.

Nobody breaks like that unless they feel protected.
So the simple answer?

4/6 Inside the building...they believed continuing the shutdown would hurt all Democrats more than their own defection would hurt them.

Their donors love “deal-makers.”
To you us...it looks like surrender.
To their funding ecosystem..it looks like “adults in the room.”

3/6 Donors...committees...leadership pressure...not public fallout.
This was almost certainly a “rotating villain” move.

Leadership signals who can safely break ranks.
It’s a known pattern in Washington.
They thought the PR war was already lost.

They weren’t at risk.
Not up for reelection. No personal cost for losing leverage.
Their incentives were different.
