UnitedHealth secretly pressured nurses to change patients' records to include DNRs (Do Not Resuscitate) without their consent, so those patients would die instead of being saved with medical interventions that could cost UnitedHealth money.

This is murder.

I am informed here that I am Zionist, which as far as I can tell this week means I spoke unflatteringly of a double murder.

Every progressive, pro-Palestine elected Dem in my feed is (rightly) condemning the murder of two Israeli staffers in DC.

Funny how there’s rarely any reciprocity from their rightwing counterparts when there are hate crimes & murders against Palestinians, Arabs, & Muslims.

Piece on eugenics delayed by necessity to keep working in advance of 1AM vote scheduled by House GOP on bill to kill disabled Americans by cutting Medicaid
Before I tell people to lie in order to get covid boosters *going forward* please understand that we don't yet know what kind of risk that will expose people to.

Again, I'll have a piece coming tonight on this.
also, to @maggieastor.bsky.social's correct point, there's no reason to believe they won't switch away from the "self-certification" regime we fought for and won. you can imagine requiring a treating prescriber's letter, or an attestation signed under the pains and penalties of perjury

I think about it every day, if I ever ran for office my platform would be a very slight variation on the classic Hate monologue.
I find it interesting that in the era of AI mania that folks have neglected Ellison’s “I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream”

Noem is doing exactly what she's there to do, every republican in the country is now 5% more confused about what habeus corpus is at no cost to Noem herself or the administration. She's not getting owned just because a democrat no one cares about told her she's wrong.

I don't know, we've been churning out business majors for ages and a lot of them are at least this dumb and lazy.
This is bleak reading

Yes, but who can forget the image of a post-presidency Grover Cleveland using the Statue of Liberty as his personal vehicle, piloting it from inside the crown like a mecha
Just FYI because evidently Fox or OAN or whatever is pushing the lie that America accepted the Statue of Liberty and that’s equivalent to the plane.

Congress VOTED to approve receiving the statue. So congress should vote on the jet

Convincing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that the blue fluid from bus toilets is a wave-disrupting proton immunity elixir. He signs up for a $1200 monthly subscription for a two-ounce vial. "You have to rub it on your gums," I tell him. "Of course," he answers. It sounds like sneakers in a running dryer.

openai is going to blow past this net loss in the next year or two and it doesn’t deliver mail to every single person in the country
NEW: The U.S. Postal Service posted a net loss of $3.3 billion in this fiscal year’s second quarter mainly due to “significant challenges out of our control,” including workers’ compensation costs, Luke Grossmann, USPS chief financial officer, said at the open session of the governing board meeting

it's looking very like the judge will release Rümeysa Öztürk on bail, which is great, but to be glass-half-empty about it they're gonna keep pulling shit like this until they feel that it's not worth it. they consider the expenditure of lawyers & resources worth it. make them pay more.
Judge Sessions: The court agrees that Mapp v. Reno is the controlling standard. The court finds that Rümeysa Öztürk has sufficiently established all 3 factors: *very* substantial First Amendment claim. We asked govt 3 wks ago to introduce any evidence apart from op-ed! "There is no evidence here."

With...what money? I have to wonder if they dipped into the credit line they got in 2024.

Either way the idea of buying a vibe coding startup with at minimum 18% ($3bn) of your remaining cash after said company failed to raise at that valuation is pretty funny lol
