JUST IN: Democrats have flipped the mayor's office in Roswell, Georgia, in tonight's runoff.

GOP Mayor Kurt Wilson conceded earlier tonight to Mary Robichaux, the Dem challenging him.

The Post reported that Hegseth gave the order to kill them all before the first strike. Whether he saw any survivors after the first missile hit is irrelevant. Whether he was in the room when the second strike hit is irrelevant.
Q: So you didn't see any survivors after that first strike?

HEGSETH: I did not personally see survivors. The thing was on fire. This is called the fog of war. This is what you in the press don't understand. You sit in your air conditioned offices and plant fake stories in the Washington Post

Universities can't function if they're constantly running scared of an online cancel factory and spineless politicians who won't push back. Should this student have received a bad grade? Don't know. Should the governor of the state be commenting on it? Absolutely not. www.oudaily.com/news/ou-stat...

They’re simultaneously arguing that soldiers have to follow all orders from the president, legal or not, but they get to ignore orders from a federal judge if they feel they’re not legal.
KARL: Did you know about the judge's order when you issued your order for the planes to continue?

KRISTI NOEM: This is an activist judge. We comply with all federal orders that are lawful and binding.

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

there is a direct line from 2001/2002 - Cheney (gloves are off), Gonzales (Geneva Conventions are "quaint"), Yoo (Geneva doesn't apply to Afghanistan) - to today.

a very direct line and long-term rot on the right.
“Should we follow the Geneva Conventions?” Pete Hegseth asked in 2024.

It’s almost as if there were signs!

I'm talking to Cora Stryker of Bright Saver, author of the whitepaper below.

What should I ask her?

Access journalism isn’t journalism. You can’t be objective about a club you are in, right?
I think @dinfontay.com summed up the moral fracture in journalism really well: “I feel cliché referencing George Carlin, but after a week like this what else can you say? There is a big club, and we aren't in it.”
Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Esptein's journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.

One of the biggest problems with wealth stratification and wealth inequality in America is that many people will get richer sucking up to their parents than they will as a function of total lifetime income. This encourages a tribalism antithetical to our national character.
