This is how I want people to be posting on Christmas. Do not try to convince Mark Cuban's goofy ass that universal healthcare is right. I want to see pleas for character actors to cleave them in twain with a broadsword. I want people volunteering to get kicked down the Exorcist steps by Alicia Witt.

the thing about The Groupchat is the way they talk around presidential authorization that *really* makes it seem like the whole group is, technically, freelancing from an executive that is checked out or incapable

It’s pretty interesting that both Tim Walz and Gavin Newsom are clearly positioning themselves to run for President and one thought he should publicize that he’s having diplomatic conversations with Canadian provinces close to Minnesota and the other thought he should publicize that he sucks

On the left, my image. On the right, the Al image that was clearly trained on, and designed to plagiarize, my image.

All Al generated imagery is inherently theft. It's unethical, environmentally disastrous, and does irreparable harm to both artists and society.

One thing I will never understand about “we need the profit motive for Big Pharma to make new and exciting drugs” is that by and large the people who are making new and exciting drugs just get paid normal salaries.

I have a sports metaphor story for this!

I have a younger brother who was a very competitive baseball player as a kid. Was on all the local travel & developmental squads.

One of his coaches had a very interesting and counterintuitive (to me) philosophy of the game, as it was played at that level.
This does not mean “don’t worry about it,” or even that “it’s just a distraction.”

It means fight, delay, push back, express doubt, and do anything you can to remind anyone who’ll listen that Trump and Trumpers threaten all sorts of things and hope you’ll jump out of the way.

Don’t forfeit.

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

I keep saying this to remind myself it's real, since not one person in the legacy media mentioned this at all in the past year, but HE QUIT ON THE JOB LAST TIME, he gave up on bumbling through thing after thing he couldn't handle, just wrote "EXECUTIVE TIME" on the calendar, and watched TV all day
The fact that Trump is malevolent and corrupt has somehow buried the fact that he fully demonstrated he was incredibly shitty at the job of being president, like even the stuff he wasn't trying to ruin got wrecked because he's a dipshit who doesn't know how anything works, can't learn, and won't try

Reminder that Aaron Swartz was facing 35 years in prison and financial devastation for trying to programmatically download and open the contents of JSTOR, which led to him taking his own life.

But OpenAI is going to scrape all of academia and make billions by plagiarizing it.

I don’t want to get too rude about it, but it looks like Harris’s two major polling bounces where she pulled ahead were when she energized the base of the party (picking Tim Walz and post-debate) and not when she appeals to Republicans.

Stop. Reaching. Out.

Harris will travel Thursday to Ripon, Wisconsin — home to the Little White Schoolhouse, where an 1854 meeting led to the birth of the Republican Party. She'll be joined by former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney.
