We have a running joke in VFX: “what was your trick for making that shot look great?”
“planning.”

As someone who makes a living removing powerlines from period movies, I disagree. I mean, it is a silly job and if no person or program did it ever again only a few people would care, but it’s my job. Anywhere that shit touches is money that’s not being paid to people.

Her only noteworthy skill being the Nancy Regan of wrestling. What a piece of shit.

But for insurance companies specifically, that doesn’t make them money. Given how much effort they have spent in government it’s shocking they’d be okay losing what is a huge cash cow. They get tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars per-person presently via subsidies to keep healthcare “affordable”

insurance is already at the 10x rate, but the govt paid insurance companies the difference via a subsidy. It’s a shit system, but one that guaranteed a lot of money for insurance companies. If that subsidy goes away it’s all lost revinue.

I don’t understand why insurance companies aren’t more up in arms about this. I know they suck and all that, but they were getting a lot of government money from this.

Kills me that he couldn’t even give it an original name. An epic dullard.

Yup. They’re background actors in a Marvel movie, making dissatisfied faces and waiting for the Avengers to show up and save everyone.

It’s a little language police-y but if the sides were switched, republicans would say, “must resign.” Using “should” presupposes that he won’t, reinforcing the general Dem message of, “someone should really do something about this,” as they look around and let it all happen.

I’ve had similar struggles and went to a Tesla protest today. The variety and number of people honking in support helped more than I expected.

My hunch is that even though a film shutter does scan across the film frame, it doesn’t do the line-by-line readout of a CMOS sensor which makes it more forgiving.

I can’t say how prevalent it is. The problem exists. Part of my job is fixing these split frames. My experience leads me to believe it’s a common issue. Not the worst thing as it’s usually only a single frame that needs to be painted up.
March 10, 2025 at 5:14 AM
This is tricky with most digital cameras, as they utilize a rolling shutter. Single frame events like a muzzle flash will often end up half captured, with part of the frame lit up and another part having not recorded the flash. Looks like utter shit, which is another reason people go fully fake.
