I'm very excited that my first postdoc paper is out now at @nature.com!
www.nature.com/articles/s41...

I developed new single cell CDK sensors to investigate how CDK orchestrates mitosis including investigating bistability/hysteresis, how activity is propagated, and the role of centrosomes.
Spatiotemporal orchestration of mitosis by cyclin-dependent kinase - Nature
Experiments in fission yeast show that cyclin-dependent kinase is first activated in the nucleus, from which the mitotic signal is propagated from CDK at the centrosome to the cytoplasm.

My reviewing style has changed over time. Rather than litigate every little thing, and pushing my own ideas, I focus only on 2 things:
(1) Are the claims interesting/important?
(2) Does the evidence support the claims?

Most of my reviews these days are short and focused.

I'll never understand the chest thumping Canadian govt/funders/uni do over bribing scientists to move here DESPITE the funding environment while foregoing every opportunity to make it a funding environment that attracts people in the first place. Truly embarassing.
Sorry but this isn’t the win everyone thinks it is. Offering a lot of money to an elite few does absolutely nothing for the Canadian research landscape as a whole.
After more than a decade of growing his career in cancer research in Australia and then being recruited to a coveted position in the U.S, Canadian-born scientist Wes Wilson packed up his lab at Penn Medical in Philadelphia & has moved 800kms north to Toronto. #Canada
