Those still in the Labour Party & going along to CLP meetings…look around you at the next one

Who among the bright eyed keen 20-30 somethings do you think will be forced by HQ sometime in 2040s to go on Radio 4 to defend the taking of jewellery as the compassionate way to stop babies drowning?

Thinking about how the perfectly sane and humane - and not remotely radical - words coming out of this man’s mouth makes him an outlier in today’s political landscape.
A Government of cowards.

Rather than tackle inequality - they've gone for pensioners, disabled people and now it's people fleeing war and persecution.

They can't get away with this.

It is a disgrace. The worst possible racists in my home town (we’re getting an Army camp of migrants) are loving - they can say all this shit they’ve always wanted to.

Most people already were crossing their fingers and holding their noses voting Labour tho. So I doubt MPs are getting push back.
"Polanski was joined by many Labour MPs in opposing the government’s plans, although most of them are thought to be prepared to reluctantly support the measures."

What's the point of being in Labour?

Think this is going to push a lot, if not most, of voters to the Greens. The right wing appeasement rather than practical improvements show Labour are not a party of serious government. Party before country.

Feel confident in backing the Greens, more moral and genuine with practical solutions.

Yeah. Here in the UK it most chimes, for me, like an episode of 2000ADs “Future Shock”.
If I had a shitload of money and wished to hasten the arrival of the Kingdom of God I would simply follow the clearly labeled instructions by housing immigrants, freeing prisoners, and so forth
At a fundamental level, we have to accept much of silicon valley has gone insane.

This week, we have Bluesky being stupid, Google being evil, Apple being devious, the government being daft about AI. tech bros needing a much wider reading list, and AI dogs. My friends, it has not been a good week in tech.

The Greens don’t believe providing safe refuge for endangered asylum seekers is an “out-of-control” policy.

Nor do we believe making life more difficult for those in need is the way to unify British society.

Refugees are welcome.

Cruel. Callous. Cowardly.

The public are seeing this Labour government for exactly who they are.

We all have a responsibility to make them pay at the ballot box.

Reject the hate. Reject them.

This is not who we are. Let's make hope normal again.

Is it just people who have an arts background and move into politics that are considered to have failed? Or is it applied equally to all politicians - failed lawyers, failed investment bankers, failed landlords etc.
The right wing approach now is to put me in a box with an incredibly successful politician who just won a stunning victory.

This is Pure Cope Exhibit A

This is the great thing about Emacs, you can make new tools so fast... I needed a search tool for OpenSSL pod doc. I could have tried to build man pages ... but instead:

weblog.ferrier.me.uk/f/home/OpenS...

I'm sorry, I don't have syntax highlighting on emacslisp!
OpenSSL pod doc
OpenSSL source distribution comes with pod documentation that can be turned into HTML or man files or whatever.

Added to that: Green policies have a chance of working. Blaming all our woes on immigrants and disabled people is not going to change a £10bn a year deficit.

If you ARE a racist maybe keep voting Labour or even better Reform.

But if you’re not the Green have more chance of fixing things.
If you feel like you voted for Labour and got Reform, time to join @zackpolanski.bsky.social and the Green Party.

Don’t be taken in by the right wing smears, today’s Green Party is passionate, intelligent, and honest. They have consistently impressed me.
“on article 8 of the ECHR in particular the right to family life ..we want to constrain in legislation the way that that is applied in immigration cases” Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood tells Sky’s Trevor Philips

Who would have imagined we would ever hear this from a Labour government

Sacha Judd's #ffconf talk was one full of nostalgia for me. Fandom was my first online community 💗 and it's such a rich subculture of the internet. Was fab hearing all about @archiveofourown.org and many other incarnations of online fandom spaces being talked about at a web conf! @ffconf.org
thank you #ffconf you are such a great crowd. here’s the text and slides to the talk (it’s a directors cut bc it has 20 mins more than the original version!) 1/2 www.sachajudd.com/the-good-int...

Tommy Robinson openly celebrating Labour's new asylum seekers policy should tell everyone exactly how far right Labour are now.

Labour, Reform and Tories are all the same. Right wing parties only interested in making money for their donors.

Do not vote Labour.
