We have received many questions about whether it’s safe to sign up for No Kings protests while Trump ramps up his attacks on free speech.

chuck's gotta go, man

just can't even pretend to meet the moment we're in, you cannot be out there talking about bipartisan funding for the health care system when the VP is threatening your constituents with loss of employment and freedom for speaking their minds in public
Schumer on government funding: "Our position remains this: We want to keep the government open by engaging in bipartisan negotiation where we can address some of the grave harms Donald Trump has caused to our health care system and help Americans with the cost of living."

the only thing i dislike about this essay from @polphilpod.bsky.social is that i didn't write it first. it gets at the point a lot of us are waking up to: we must reinvigorate liberalism *as a political movement* and not just a structure of institutions

Liberals: Alas, the Time Has Come to Throw John Rawls Under the Bus
The greatest liberal philosopher of the twentieth century guided his creed toward neutrality. In the age of Trump, we can no longer afford that.

I spent the day at the ICE Detention centers where Rümeysa Öztürk and Mahmoud Khalil are being unjustly detained. They've been taken thousands of miles away from home and denied due process.

I’m here to call for their immediate release and make it known that they haven’t been forgotten.

I filmed this yesterday on my way to Lousiana where my constituent Rümeysa Öztürk is being wrongfully held by ICE. I’m there now demanding her release. More to come.

Here's the Bluesky post. This is incredible. Now the goal will be to get him home. And I want to hear what Senator Van Hollen learned from him.

What this shows is that Bukele is very much susceptible to pressure.

Now we can't forget about the other 237 people sent there on March 15.
I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.

In March, after blowing up Democrats’ unified opposition to the GOP’s gov't funding bill, Chuck Schumer defended his vote, saying his red line would be: “If Trump doesn’t obey the Supreme Court.”

Well, that didn't take long.
OK, Chuck Schumer. Trump Just Crossed Your Red Line. Now What?
The Democratic leader said he’d take “extraordinary action” if the president disobeyed the Supreme Court. Well, Trump is doing exactly that by refusing to bring back Kilmar Abrego Garcia from El…
