There are far more masculine-seeming women than trans women.
Also, for every instance of a woman being challenged in a public place someone thinks they don't belong at, there are hundreds of cases of low level hostility: words, looks.
It is mostly cis women who suffer, are made to feel unwelcome.

Wow! Congratulations to Andrea Egan, the new General Secretary of UNISON.

As a UNISON member, it was my pleasure to support Andrea. She will be a voice for all members, and will fight for the fairer society they deserve.

See you on the picket line.

Former Labour Mayor Jamie Driscoll has joined the Green Party.

It is time for other Left Wing members of the Labour Party to ask themselves why they are in a Party which they constantly have to vote against and which completely ignores them.

These retirement ambitions may change in the UK.

Post-2012 medical students frequently graduate with UK£100,000 student debt, which continues to compound in the early decade of career due to high interest rates exceeding payments. For many now in 30s, retirement in 50s is probably implausible.

New post just out:

"The Overshoot"

Net migration is collapsing, and will fall further over the coming years. We could even have net emigration.

What does that mean for the country and the political narrative as we head towards the next election?

He claims to be a retired police officer, but David actually left the force after being charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, we reveal tonight.

The "fabric of space-time" is a fiction. There are only intervals of time (measured by a clock) and distances (also measured by a clock, knowing the speed of light). Relativity predicts the relations between these for observers moving relative to others or in different gravitational fields.
We constantly refer to the fabric of space-time but what is the fabric, what is it made of? And how does it differ from Newton’s ether?

A friend of mine - a longstanding highly rated and senior servant to the Labour Party - wrote to me some weeks back saying 'This is the worst Government of my life time.' He hadn't forgotten Liz Truss but he credited her, inept though she was, with, unlike Labour, at least knowing what she wanted.

Interesting bellwether stats:
Labour Party membership down c.100k since Election to <250k.
Lib Dem’s have dropped yr-on-yr too - at 83,174 they have fewer than half the membership of the Greens 🧐

The centre ground is emptying out, with Farage and Polanski the party leaders to benefit.

How the BBC & ITV give disproportionate coverage to Farage & Reform: hard evidence from a serious study. BBC & ITV now give Reform more coverage than the Conservatives, more than the Lib Dems & nine times the Greens. Superb research from Stephen Cushion.

Streeting says he can't rule out harm or death over Christmas caused by the resident doctors strike.

In fact, he is the one responsible since he ignored resident doctors' requests for meetings in October and November to resolve the issues.

His f***ing job is to keep us safe

He is playing politics
@fletchjack.bsky.social from the BMA explains they've been trying to get round the table with Wes Streeting for several months but Streeting didn't even bother replying to their letter

Now we're in Dec with a Flu epidemic & Streeting is accusing resident doctors of endangering patients

Interesting discourse. Resident doctors offered at the alter of flu. Their fault not limited hospital bed capacity. Not lack of universal free vaccination. Not lack of structural preventive measures against airborne viral spread. Not fear of angering the anti-masking ideology. It’s resident doctors!

Now it *is* Flu

Are they gonna be saying "It is just a cold"?

(and that old favourite "viruses don't exist/don't cause infections/can't be vaccinated against/can't spread/have never been isolated")

An inconvenient truth for the racists and xenophobes:

Low birth rate in the UK inevitably means fewer young supporting ever more older people.

Immigration brings in young people and eases the problem.

Without it, everyone must work longer.

Currently 90% of the NHS is nationalised, it does 96% of the work.

10% of the NHS is privatised, it does 4% of the work.

The solution is nationalising Medicine, the Government could pass a law requiring all Medical Staff have to be employed by the Government.

Problem solved.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

On why Farage doesn’t apologise for his schoolboy racism:
“if he apologised, he would be turning to his own support base and saying, ‘You’re all guilty too.’ ”
Exactly.
He is racist. So are his voters. He can’t be pissing them off by saying sorry.
