When I was thinking of leaving hospital medicine, I was feeling lost.

I didn't ask for support but I wasn't offered any either.

What advice would have helped me?

A thread 🧵
If anyone needs a few minutes of glorious, uplifting joyousness - watch and listen to this 😊

Just caught this on the radio on my way home - such a beautiful, heartfelt account of a family's experience of having an unwell child, and their interactions with healthcare - so skilfully woven with humour.

Highly recommend.

Currently writing a formal document - does anyone else find it much easier to spot errors in spelling and punctuation, and hone the writing style, from a printed paper copy rather than a screen?

This current endeavour is definitely not paper-lite!

I might need to plant a tree or three...

I'd be interested to know whether, if we're only doing one, Covid or flu would have a greater effect. We've certainly had more Covid on the unit so far this season

normal mentation *doesn't* indicate adequate systemic perfusion

especially in cardiogenic shock, people can mentate well despite terrible CO & systemic perfusion

poor mentation is sometimes an early sign of *septic* shock, but often a very late indicator of other shock states #EMIMCC

It's great to see this published!

'The BMJ has spoken to several doctors who have faced difficulties in returning to practice after extended periods away. Many agreed that the toughest part was knowing where to start.'

An excellent article by Adele Waters, to which I was proud to contribute.
