Delightful detail from the Roman “unswept floor” mosaic by Heraclitus, showing a mouse nibbling a walnut.

Superb use of darker tiles for subtle shadow effect!

We know how to fix it. We have the technology. But Keir Starmer refuses to step up to the challenge.

Honestly, I did NOT have "punching the air and going HELL YES to Chris Patten" on my bingo card today. But what he says is SO rarely said and needed saying SO badly!

"How shall we treat Mr Farage's concerns? Shall we hail Brexit a tremendous success? Something that has cost the country billions?"
SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

"I don't think that we should allow ourselves to be bullied into thinking that the BBC is only any good, if it reflects the prejudice of the last person who shouted at it." ~AA

Final final thought: I was hoping Labour might be less fuckwitted about the BBC, understanding that it has a very important role to play both at home and abroad. But Nandy hasn't stood up for the BBC, nor encouraged it to be confident but self-aware. And a culture secretary needs to do that.

The government needs to ensure that the new housing strategy addresses existing housing stock to ensure the quality of them are as high as possible. Our homes should endanger our health.

Safe Homes Now
No one should have to live in a home that damages their health, yet it is the norm for far too many people in England today. We’re leading a national campaign to fix unsafe homes.

As our days get colder, its crucial to recognise that more older people are at risk of health issues from cold homes. 60% of excessively cold homes are occupied by at least one person over the age of 55.16. This is unacceptable.

1 Right wing media hold everyone else to exacting standards of ethics and probity while holding themselves to none whatsoever.
2. You can’t curry favour with the right wing if you’re an entity they want to destroy.

Everything on our news agenda is being driven by a corrupted disinformation machine, run by a billionaire who sponsors Tommy Robinson and who keeps trying to foment civil war in the UK.

And incredibly our MPs & news providers stay there.

THAT is the problem. Not some bad editing choice on the BBC.

57 of the 100 US Senators, including 7 Republicans, including 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, voted to convict Donald Trump of "incitement to insurrection" for these events.
The Panorama edit was clumsy. But the facts remain. It was a violent insurrection to upend a democratic vote. Looking at the wild outrage here, we’d be forgiven for thinking Jan 6th never happened. In terms of bias, this is off the scale worse. With Farage delighting in the damage.

Half measures will "save" some money short-term, but will piss *everybody* off and still leave very large numbers of children suffering from a policy designed to make them poorer.
