1. Hi new friends! Linked in this first tweet is my “About me/what kind of content I post” thread. It has been temporarily unpinned to make room for Item 2.

2. Hi old friends! I promised you BlueSky primers and pro tips. I will drop those in the rest of THIS thread.

👋🏼 About me!

I'm an anthropologist who studies babies, and how their behavior and physiology is shaped by the unique way that we feed our babies as mammals: lactation.

🧪
A few weeks ago a 6 month old baby stopped breathing after being hit with it, and nobody could say anything about the potential effects because no ethics board would ever approve a study that randomizes babies into “tear gas” and “no tear gas” groups.

I mean…I’m no doctor but if it’s been deemed too harmful to use on trained soldiers it’s probably too harmful to use on civilians.

“Honey stop blowing mommy’s antifa whistle, you’re going to scare the neighbors!”
February 4, 2026 at 3:17 AM
Wait. Tear gas is banned by the Geneva Protocol? And this isn’t all over the news?? And there have been no sanctions??

We may be living through the end of American democracy, but we do have some *very* cool spacepics.

For now.

This is the most detailed map yet of dark matter in the universe, based on JWST observations of 800,000 galaxies.

The background image shows those galaxies in infrared light. Yellow indicates the location of dark matter, inferred from its gravitational pull. 🧪🔭

My inner monologue today: Read some papers. Attend a webinar on the effects of nuclear weapons on maternal-infant health. Prepare power point. Read article about how Colorado politicians are preparing for invasion. What kind of whistle is the loudest? Oh hey look at that cool photo of dark matter!

I'm tired of preparing for my neighborhood to be invaded by a masked lawless paramilitary group instead of doing science

FYI we have a cool list of human and non-human lactation science facts specifically for K-12 educators!

In our research we’ve learned a lot about how breastfeeding impacts human health. But in order for people to apply science in their lives, it needs to be understood by more than just scientists:...

There are 6 million documents and several potential named witnesses. Just because something happened a long time ago doesn’t mean we should all give up on critical thinking. Jesus.

I am arguing FOR a serious investigation. Instead of just repeating things before anyone has had a chance to do such an investigation.

Notably, Sascha’s name nor Kyle’s turns up anywhere in those documents.

I saw that.

Don’t confuse fact-checking with dismissal of victims. Verifying facts and due process are essential components of a free society.

I work for Canadians, I love Ryan Gosling, I have an encyclopedic knowledge of Vancouver from watching the X-Files, and one time I saw an X-ray of somebody who took a hockey puck to the face. What is my score on the test?

Don’t worry everybody. I already searched for Carl Sagan’s name. Our childhoods are preserved.
Academics vying for a spot in Epstein‘s world. There are so many. I feel the need to make a thread, so I don’t keep confusing them. 1/

That’s exactly how they come out. But that is not what happened here.

This discussion is becoming circular. By all means, continue spreading unverified rumors. That doesn’t harm anybody at all.
February 3, 2026 at 6:21 AM
That’s not how journalism works.
February 3, 2026 at 6:18 AM
Had I no regard for ethics, I could have wormed my way into this circle, too. All you have to do is make up bullshit theories and name drop eugenics researchers. That’s how stupid these tools are.
February 3, 2026 at 6:09 AM
The thing that strikes me about reading these emails is that they’re all stunningly, comically stupid people who think they’re geniuses. That in and of itself is an argument for wealth taxes, or some kind of cap on personal wealth. No one that stupid should have as much power as they do.
February 3, 2026 at 6:07 AM
All that article did was verify that Sascha exists, and that they were abused as a kid. Both of which Snopes did. It did not verify any of the events they described in the recordings.
February 3, 2026 at 5:56 AM
No, they don’t “hold up.” This article is not comprehensive, nor does it meet journalistic standards.

If there is anything to this, it will come out. But let the professionals do their job. That is how a civilized society works.
February 3, 2026 at 5:51 AM
I want to qualify this a little. I don’t want non-scientists to think that they should not trust science as an institution. The vast majority of scientists—that I know, anyway—are trying really hard to do good work, and many succeed despite systemic barriers, implicit bias, and academic nepotism.

I look at boobs a lot more than the average person, yet it has taken me 5 years to realize that my profile pic looks like one.

I just manifest boobs, I guess.

Remember, folks: there is no such thing as a red state. Only blue and purple states held hostage by a gerrymandered, corporate-sponsored red minority. This is why I don’t tolerate “secession“ jokes. We can’t abandon our fellow Americans.
