So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

An aspect of Car Culture that I hate is how everyone is convinced they’re always in a rush & don’t have 15 min to make breakfast so they have to drive to a fast food place (10 min) & wait in line (15 min) for hyper processed food with no nutritional value, and everyone gets heavier & more depressed
