It’s funny that everyone thinks all of the weird paper shuffling and obfuscation was evidence of a broader conspiracy and not that several agencies knew Oswald was erratic and bound to do something random. They just all tried to cover the fact they were paying attention but not enough attention
We do know who killed JFK. The Warren Commission was an incredibly thorough and good-faith effort to prove and document what had happened, which they did. The conspiracy theories arose in spite of best efforts to avoid them, but there really isn't anything they could have reasonably done better.
My first political memory - exactly 62 years ago right now, a 4-year-old boy trying to understand his mom's tears - is still the biggest event in my lifetime. We still (IMO) don't *really* know who killed JFK, but we know the public's trust was shattered. It's a straight line to today's mess

I keep seeing the media say crime is down but people feel like it is up without mentioning the role of phone notifications and social media like Nextdoor, Ring Alerts, and Facebook Groups that not only make people more aware of any crime nearby they wouldn’t have known about in the past… (1/3)

I know this premise on Alien: Earth about helping sick kids is serious but I keep thinking about Cancer Boy from Kids in the Hall and how that’d play out if they put him in a synthetic body (still insufferable)

My friend was helpfully telling me to drink fluids and eat healthy after getting vaccinated, as if the few hours’ behavior afterward were important. I went to the county drive-through vaccination place and then to the McDonalds. Just chomping those fries and hollering on the way home.
I got a flu booster today and it made me reflect on the sense of national accomplishment I felt when I drove to a public facility, waited in my car until my number was called on an app, and got my first covid jab. It's fucked the right gets to erase what a moment of technological liberation that was

It's all third spaces, baby. Used to go bowling, used to cover Skynyrd in the garage, used to have a car club. Now we've got Theo Von on in the F-350 on the way home from your 11-hour workday.
Though I'm actually a bit confused on the causation. The idea that American masculinity prevents friendships between men sounds totally plausible to me, but are masculinity norms *that* much worse now than they were in 1990? Something has to explain the huge shift.
