I’ve see a couple mentions that both Georgia Fort & Don Lemon are independent journalists without the coffers, status, & lawyers of media companies to back them - with no acknowledgment of Black press being *forced en masse* to leave the field or go indie in the last 2 years or so.
A Black reporter being targeted for arrest again in an industry that doesn’t even acknowledge that it pushed Black reporters out.

As of now, four Black people have been arrested, two journalists - Don Lemon and Georgia Fort - and two activists - Trahern Jeen Crew and Jamael Lvdell Lundy.

It would be unwise to overlook the racial motivation to focus only on the political one. In fact, they are related to one another.

A government by influencers, for influencers
the weird perp walk stuff they've tried to pull is a good example of this. it is *far* more important to them to produce those posts than it is to successfully go through a legal process (or say, be legally appointed to the job they claim to have).

Georgia Fort's is chilling, and it's being overshadowed by the equally chilling arrest of Don Lemon.

A GoFundMe is being set up for Fort. In the meantime, you can support her work directly – without paying massive fundraising platform fees – through her website:

In an era of rapid media outlet ownership changes, consolidations, & shutdowns, and subsequent journalist layoffs and transition to freelance/pitch work for multiple outlets and/or self-published work, it will be easier than ever to arrest known journalists if they don't have a W-2 job.
“Independent” is doing too much work in this first wave. They are arresting journalists and just like everything else they’ve done, they’re testing the limits of our resistance by starting wt vulnerable margins.

Democrats are hoping we'll all be calmer about this in 2 weeks

They are hoping we will memory hole every awful thing that's happened this month while the GOP tries to get their people to be more genteel with the kidnappings

Calling my senators to tell them to vote "no" actually
🚨 The Senate has agreed to a deal to vote on 5/6 full appropriations bills and replace the DHS funding measure with a 2-week stopgap bill, per multiple sources. That gives time to negotiate on the Dem demands for ICE and CBP restraints.

We did not properly punish the confederates. We did not properly punish the insurrectionists on January 6th. We have to punish ICE.

They can’t be allowed to slink back into their communities quietly. Expose them. Arrest them. Convict them. Imprison them.

TikTok reportedly suppressed videos criticizing ICE & the shooting of Alex Pretti.

Meta blocked Facebook groups tracking ICE & links to a database of agents that the government wants to keep secret.
