In 2003 I marched in protest with millions of other people to try to stop the Iraq war from starting. It was the biggest densest protest I've ever seen. I was in NYC and pop stars came out to play for the protest like it was a concert. It was a huge worldwide news story.

Anything from cultivating a personal routine, interacting with strangers, managing frustration, all kinds of stuff that can be awkward to practice in other parts of your life. Getting into fighting games can give you a place to grind being a full human among people who are doing the same.

my most extreme political position is that everyone should have to spend at least 1 year of their working adult life without a car, in order to (1) teach empathy for pedestrians (2) acclimate to sharing public spaces (3) encourage walk/transit-oriented development (4) get people some damn exercise
i think if you ride public transit enough you learn that most weird behavior is not dangerous, and conversely i think driving a car teaches you that everyone is trying to kill you at all times
