If women are underrepresented in STEM, it's at least partly because men like this offer mentoring, then embarrass themselves by assuming their mentees must be into them, then decide the best solution is to cut ties, which sends the signal to other faculty that the mentee must not be good enough.
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.

Not sure I agree with everything here (I do but want to maintain plausible distance incase OP ends up being wrong) but sharing this valuable insight to my small audience.
A bunch of academic words that seem smart but mean nothing when actually analyzed in the sequence I put them in to make my name known for saying something™️ about the current piece of news that I will forget ever happened until convenient to do so.

every few years it's revealed that the NYT was sitting on information about some horrific thing that public knowledge of would have changed the country's course and for some reason a ton of people still give them money. you can play those games on other sites

The whole point of crimes like this is to do them openly. That’s where the satisfaction comes from. They are also just very stupid.
One of the craziest things that has become apparent to me as I’ve gotten older is people are just putting “hello yes would you like to do crimes? Here is my plan to do crimes, let us join together to do the crimes at this specific time and place” in emails

Ed research is bad but people are getting the causation backwards. School officials/teachers elevate and pick up the bad ideas that are convenient for them, which makes those ideas popular on the PD circuit. The problem starts in the schools not the universities.
One conservative criticism I take seriously is that education PhDs often come up with well-meaning ideas that absolutely melt the brains of kids
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

A lot of people like to blame current reading pedagogy for widespread lack of reading comprehension among adults and I must say I think that's incredibly optimistic. Phonics might be good for lots of things but I don't think it would help here
