Nearing the quarter-century mark in our nation’s life, we have collectively failed those who came before by allowing the ascension of the very fascism millions of our forebears courageously fought, bled, and died driving back into the sewers of history.

I read that Ukraine, since it was invaded, has a national moment of silence every day at 9AM.
Probably should have been doing this at home in the US since Jan 20.
Never too late to start though.

Happy July 4th! A day when we remember what was in the Declaration of Independence.
The King, Jefferson wrote,
1. "has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures (what would he make of the billions that now to be spent on armed ICE officers?)

How it is.
Trump could replace any of them with a phone call & they're all in unlosable districts. The vulnerable reps in blue-ish areas have the only power, and they're they're Vichy as hell. Valadao lost his seat over Medicaid cuts that didn't even pass. He's trading his constituents' lives to be #3 at DHS.
What! The Freedom Caucus caved!? They decided it was worth blowing up the deficit if it meant also hurting other people and paying fealty to the Fuehrer!??? This is unprecedented.

The most sobering part about becoming 1930’s Germany is realizing that no one is going to come here and liberate those being brutalized. If this historically inhumane regime is going to be overthrown, We The American People are going to have to do it.

Just heard Bill Kristol, former chief of staff for Dan Quayle, say he thinks ICE should be defunded and that the entire DHS should probably be disbanded, which puts him to the left of maybe the majority of elected Democrats. Truly wild times we’re living in.

Two things that will help (as much as we can):

1. Call your reps
5calls.org/issue/hr1-on...

2. Drive calls to vulnerable House Republicans in California who know this vote will end their career

hey I am posting this because I didn't know it, and so others might not either: but the BBB has NOT PASSED YET-- it's passed the senate & now it must pass the house.

It's time to call reps RIGHT NOW. Johnson is going to push the vote ASAP before backlash can form so the calls need to start NOW.

I'm often critical of Senate Democrats for not doing more, but in this instance they did everything we could've asked for.
senate democrats did literally everything possible to stop this bill and to draw attention to it, and they succeeded in striking several awful parts from it *and* forced two retirements, if you they could’ve done more, your argument is with arithmetic, not politics
I hate what Republicans do with the heat of a thousand suns but it takes two to do a fascism: one to act and the other to not stop him. That is why I keep saying, hey, let’s stop them. Shaking a fist is good but throwing one is better.
