A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

The 30 Rock episode with “how do you do, fellow kids?” is closer to the release of Windows 98 than it is to today.
I made a “how do you do, fellow kids?” joke to someone in their mid 20s who, it turns out, was too young to have heard of that meme.

So “how do you do, fellow kids?” is now an example of “how do you do, fellow kids?”

Such a perfect example of what we all give up when we refuse to address basic inequalities. I don't want to live in a country where all the public space is militarized to keep hungry people from stealing food, just give them money to buy food!

Everything is bad, but books are good. Get a book. Read the book. Cherish the book. Finish the book. Tell your friends about the book, and leave a review of the book. Hold the book close. Listen to what it tells you. Do as it commands. Place it on the dread altar and let it guide your every choice.

I have only ever seen bits of this person on TikTok but I just watched the whole thing and it’s fully bonkers how this sounds like it’s been workshopped for months but at one point he reads a Truth Social post from that day. really at the top of his game
Finally got a chance to watch the @joshjohnsoncomedy.bsky.social routine about Trump and Epstein that came out a few days ago.

I am blown away that he managed to put together a full hour of stand-up about breaking news and it's somehow polished and funny as hell.

Give it a watch and share it.

One great thing about the amazing commercial year Warner Bros. is having (Minecraft, Sinners, Final Destination, Superman) is that all of its successes stem from letting filmmakers with strong visions put their stamp on the material. It cuts against a lot of recent Hollywood conventional wisdom.

listen. God works in mysterious ways or whatever but it is hard to describe how spectacularly unpopular the highly conservative U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops has made itself with the rest of church leadership. the Vatican sees them as WAY too enmeshed in GOP politics and Francis legit hated them
seeing the U.S. "could an American be the next Pope?" headlines feels a lot like having an overly proud but poorly informed parent speculate about one's future

Saw SINNERS based on this post alone. So worth it. Incredible movie!
I will join the chorus of people telling you that SINNERS is an extraordinary film. I'm not a big horror person or a big vampire person, and I will be absolutely shocked if it's not among my very favorite movies of the year. See it in a theater, with a crowd, on the biggest screen you can find.
In 'Sinners,' there will be blood, booze, and the blues : Pop Culture Happy Hour
The very scary movie Sinners finds Michael B. Jordan playing twin brothers who open a 1930s juke joint. And opening night does not go as planned. Written and directed by Ryan Coogler, (Black Panther),...

He is NOT Poirot. Like, I'm all for re-interpretation--I'd take a race-bent Poirot. (Poirot from the Belgian Congo would be a Choice I'd pay all the monies to see) but Branagh is a solid NO from me.

Supporting bathroom, sports and healthcare bans for trans people means signing on to a moral panic about problems that DON'T EXIST.

When people say Democrats should "moderate" on these issues, they are suggesting that we legislate a group out of public life based on lies.
