Science will often take you to unexpected and delightful places. In this study, researchers hypothesized that riders in a crowded subway car would be more likely to offer their seat to a pregnant person if there were someone in the subway car dressed as Batman 🧪🦇

Tomorrow, I’ll be making a favorite stew. We call it chicken tomato chowder because its ancestor was an eponymous weight watchers recipe.

20 yrs of vibes rendered it nearly unrecognizable, but absolutely delicious. I never record how to make it, so I will try to post the steps tomorrow as I go.

Megyn Kelly claimed Epstein was into “the barely legal type,” referring to 15 year-olds.

So I wrote about how her comments highlight the ways both purity culture and rape culture sexualize young girls and make male desire their responsibility.

The Barely Legal Type: Purity Culture, Rape Culture, and America’s Lose-Lose Proposition for Girls
The very parts of American culture that claim to promote teen abstinence and sexual purity operate on a parallel logic to the rape culture that enables the darkest misogynistic violence against women.

The first episode of the new Ken Burns American Revolution documentary gives a quick passing mention to the Pine Tree Riots. If you're curious about how New England white pines figured into the run up to the war, I wrote about it last year over at JSTOR Daily:

This 1884 beauty on the national register has been updated with HVAC and a two-car garage. Just $190K! In DC it would be $1.5M? Love it. Brings a smile to my face. We all need more color in our lives! #FridayNightZillow www.zillow.com/homedetails/...

I joke about the VA and it's certainly not perfect but the reason politicians run it down so hard is that if people knew how good VA socialized medicine is they'd riot immediately

These arguments have been staples of holocaust denial discourse since the 80’s when a Canadian NeoNazi commissioned a pseudoscientific ‘report’ using samples taken from Auschwitz. Grok laundering this in the usual confident LLM tone of authority shows why this tech is so destructive

One of the professors said that the new policy would make routine lessons on things like the Holocaust impossible.

No. The chief problem is, AI is literally A TOOL FOR UNLEARNING. The more you use it, the worse you get at whatever it is you’re using it for. It’s the opposite of educating, it’s uneducating. 2/2

Poem

I loved my friend.
He went away from me.
There’s nothing more to say.
The poem ends,
Soft as it began,—
I loved my friend.
