I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Save every human being.

Fight for every single person that you can.

AND it's all of us or none of us, truly. We must continue to fight back in all the ways that we can.

AND literally: Save every single person that you can.

There is no buffer time. It's now

You use federal science every day—whether you know it or not.

Weather forecasts, food safety alerts, job reports—these are powered by federal data.

NPR just did a great piece on how deeply this science shapes our daily lives.

Why I stay. Because I work in the department that is making the rich folks/businesses pay their fair share. And I go after tax evaders that owe over 1 million in taxes.
I have broad support for my job. #whywestay.
Most Americans continue to favor raising taxes on corporations, higher-income households
Democrats are overwhelmingly supportive of raising taxes on these groups, while Republicans are more divided.

THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING NONSTOP!

"Every single moment, statement, or action that slows down the backslide into authoritarianism is a good one, and we should look for and document them." www.lawdork.com/p/what-the-t...
the only approach to trump that has ever made sense was “slow him down as much as possible while rallying public support to your cause” and while most politicians, pundits, and big law partners don’t get this, some do, and lawyers in particular have the tools to act on that understanding
in the spirit of self-crit: in past years I have certainly been among those who have been vocally skeptical of the role of law and lawyers in meaningfully constraining armed agents of the state. but I do think we have to hand it to lawyers at this time

I see a lot of people falling into the "this is pointless" trap, and I can only say it so many ways — though I suspect I will have to write something specifically about it on this front — but the bottom line is that we must expect compliance. Anything less is just making noncompliance easier.

Reminders:

"Concentration camps" aren't the same as "extermination camps." Both were/are horrific.

Most Nazi camps were *outside Germany*, away from the eyes of German citizens.

Those trains? Were to, uh, deport the category of people whose lives were deemed unimportant.

Never again is now.

As someone who knows how to read, I can tell you with certainty the Supreme Court did not say that.

The White House admitted it was an "administrative error" to deport Abrego Garcia and the Supreme Court called on the government to facilitate his return.
Trump: The supreme court, it was 9-0?

Miller: In our favor, against the district court ruling, saying no district court has the power to compel the foreign policy

8/ This is a watershed moment, as Trump thumbs his nose at a Supreme Court ruling, gaslighting the public by pretending his won 9-0 when he lost 9-0.

If we normalize this, there's no end. He can lock up or remove anyone. We will no longer exist in a democracy.

We've always promoted apprenticeship as a path to the American dream.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland father deported to El Salvador because of an "administrative error," was a union sheet metal apprentice. He was building a better life and a better America.
