Hey #medsky it’s time to stand up for trans rights. The option to be “non political” is gone when the basic practice of medicine is under attack from one party.

My 4 year old was singing about a pink pony club yesterday. I thought it was a new song she heard in preschool. She wanted to hear it on my phone so I pulled up the video. Oh. Not exactly what I had in mind.

Remember the West Wing episode after Bartlett was shot and CJ listed *all the other people* shot that day and closed with “lest anybody think a gun would have prevented these crimes, let’s remember that the President was shot while surrounded by the best armed bodyguards known to man.”

My husband continues his streak of being a terrible luck charm during any game he attends in person. Now passing the disappointment on to the next generation.
I’ve now been to 2 games where the Yankees only had 1 batter over the minimum bat - today and the Pedro game in ‘99.

End stage renal disease disproportionately impacts underserved communities, and requiring $35 copays for each treatment means that patients who barely have the ability to make ends meet will need to pay $5k a year just to stay alive.

This is pure evil.

AND. IT. WILL. KILL. PEOPLE.

The reason why trans rights became an issue was because the US far right stumbled upon the potential virulence of transphobia and realised it was a useful wedge issue to undermine all the progress in rights for women and minorities.
When Obergefell was decided a decade ago, the Christian right immediately declared it the new Roe, pledging to eventually overrule it, even if that meant, like with Roe, they would spend decades chipping away at LGBTQ equality in a multitude of ways. They got a chip with Mahmoud v Taylor today

If you actually read the book, the reason Chloe is upset about her favorite uncle getting engaged has nothing to do with who he’s marrying but b/c she fears that he won’t be as fun with her. It’s a very normal kid reaction and she would have had it if he’d gotten engaged to a woman.
Incredibly, Justice Alito continues to misrepresent a book in the case, Uncle Bobby's Wedding, framing it as insidious propaganda designed to brainwash children who oppose same-sex marriage into supporting it. This is just not true, and Sotomayor refutes it. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

This is not only untrue, it is the exact opposite. COVID infection in pregnancy is associated with double the rate of stillbirths. COVID infection before or during early pregnancy is associated with three times higher rate of miscarriage.

As a @twinsbaseball.bsky.social fan, who are 1-9 in their last 10, sometimes it’s hard listening to my husband whine about his 1st place team. But yes, what an awful slump. I’m soooo sorry your team sucks.
The slide isn’t ending until after the All-Star break, if it ends. Just hope they’re not too far behind by then.
4th place at the All-Star Game is a real possibility.

There are 100k students in med school each year. Room and board is about 100k per year. For 10b a year, med school could be free. We would see a wholesale change in the profession, career paths and the cost of care.

It would change the economics for every financial decision doctors
Republican plans to cap student borrowing could shatter an everyday profession
One GOP senator said anyone paying more than $100K to go to med school is "making a huge mistake." But the median cost of attending one is more than double that for the class of 2025.

People don’t believe Long Covid is real because they can’t face it.

If they face the reality of how disabling COVID can be, they might be forced to adjust their behaviour.

They might be forced to admit we aren’t “back to normal” and the threat as not passed.

The denial bubble would burst
Actual conversation I had today

"You know only like 50% of the population believes long COVID is real, right?"

Me: "Ok, but not so long ago only 50% believed that climate change was caused by humans & now the world is on fire"

Something I had never been forced to consider. I’m grateful some folks know how to improve photographic detection of harm to victims with darker skin.
The difficulty of diagnosing and photographing bruises in victims with darker skin is a consistent factor not only in delayed diagnosis and treatment, but also in smaller settlements in lawsuits.

A 2022 study found that 📸 bruises using blue or purple light led to a 5x improvement in detection.
