There’s a sticker plastered around Telluride: “Crazy is still better than corporate.”

The gist is that owner Chuck Horning — often unpredictable in both behavior and business decisions — is better than a large company. 

The coming weeks will test that theory.

Telluride Ski and Golf Co. and representatives of the 78-member ski patrol union have been unable to reach an agreement on pay. On Tuesday night, the union voted to strike before the New Year’s holiday.
