DO THIS WITH EVERYTHING PLS
@englishrail.bsky.social and I have a piece in the Globe & Mail about how Canada can make housing more affordable and accessible, and disentangle itself from its unreliable and hostile southern neighbor: give its elevator industry the option to use the European/global standard, not just the U.S. one
Opinion: Canada’s outdated elevator rules are adding to the housing crisis
The high cost of elevators is a barrier to the development of affordable, accessible homes

MASSIVE good news for trans people in the United States.

A federal judge has just granted class action status to transgender people looking to update their passports.

This means that very shorty, the window will open to update your passports with the correct gender marker.

A chilling story about the manufacturing flaws in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and a reminder of the infamous report from the factory that built them, including the Air India jet that crashed: workers there said they would never allow their family members to fly on a 787. prospect.org/economy/2025...

Main character energy is OUT, this summer we’re bringing NPC energy. We’re posted up at the bar dropping lore and suggesting side quests. We’re leaning casually near a locked door and saying “I don’t think you have the key for that” when someone tries the handle. We’re staring at a tree.

Yep. Now would be the time for some actual work.
Also, the election already happened. The Liberals don’t need to be in campaign mode tip-toeing around wealthy homeowners’ property values. They need to be in “fixing our biggest problems head on” mode.
In the 2017 B.C. election, the NDP said increasing home prices was out of control and they would "moderate the market."

They won the election.

Then they had a bunch of clear policies to lower home values, and as prices fell, they said the market still needed to be moderated.

They won re-election.
